RECENT PURCHASES + A RAMBLE

Over Christmas I had a browse of the Selfridges beauty sale and decided to treat myself to a few purchases. Two of which were lipsticks (the other was a Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara set and Bi-Facil eye makeup remover).

I've seen a lot of buzz about Charlotte Tilbury makeup on Instagram and a few other blogs and to be honest, I'm still not that much the wiser about the brand. I was intrigued enough however to buy one of her lipsticks.

After much Googling for swatches, I purchased Love Liberty from the Matte Revolution collection,a rich berry burgundy. Matte Revolution lipsticks come with SPF and the perfect blend of oils and waxes to enable you to build the colour from a stain to full on pigment. Its formula ensures your lips don't dry out and your lipstick stays put. It's alright, certainly not a life-changer though. I dunno whether I half expected gold confetti and coins to fall out of the casing too, as there's been so much hype surrounding this brand.

The second lipstick I bought is from YSL, from the Pur Couture The Mats line in shade 208. It's a shocking matte pink at first sight, which appears completely different when swatched, However when I put it on, it reverts back to a full in your face shocking fuschia - I love it! I must do a FOTD with it on, it's too much!! It also has a lovely floral scent, which I've never noticed in a lipstick before. It's a nice touch.

I have a real love for matte lipsticks at the moment and they've fast become my favourite lipstick finish. When done properly, a matte lipstick brings with it an air of sophistication to a make up look that just isn't reciprocated with a sparkly-jelly-esque lipgloss. I want opaque! want colour! Speaking of lipglosses, I'm in the middle of having an almighty clearout of mine. I don't wear most of my MAC lipglasses anymore, so they're accumulating fast in a pile ready to be taken instore for multiple B2M's! (B2M - the Back To MAC scheme, which allows you to return six empty/unused/unwanted MAC products in exchange for a free lipstick).

My days of collecting make up are over and downsizing is the way forward. It's been absolutely ages since I was last in a MAC store and I'm strangely looking forward to having a good ol' swatch instore and seeing what new products and shades they have, as I feel completely out of the loop. To think, there was once a time when I ate, drank, slept and breathed MAC all day, everyday. I think I'll eventually start selling my LE products off..on Specktra.net, not on the blog though. I want my money's worth and only die-hard MAC fans know the true value of certain LE products.

Which matte shades do I need to check out? I want more!
