Burn Book Scrapbooks – January Craft Night!

Well ladies, tomorrow night is it. I’ll be watching Mean Girls with some friends while we make “burn book” scrapbooks. The idea behind these though, is to put some actually nice things about our girlfriends in them. Or you can just fill them with whatever you want, honestly. Here’s how you can make your own!

DIY Burn Book Scrapbook – what you need:

  • an old journal, book, sketchbook, etc. (if you want to get really involved, you can make your own)
  • pink paper
  • scissors
  • mod podge
  • paintbrush
  • old magazines
  • photos, pens, and other decorations for the inside

Step 1: Cover the outside

If you’re starting off with a pink book/journal then you can skip this step. You could also choose to go with a different color if you’re not going for movie accuracy. Use a paintbrush to apply an even layer of mod podge or glue to the outside of the book. Attach some pink paper, fold it over and glue it along the inside edges.

Step 2: Make a collage

Once the glue has dried, you can start adding little decorations. At a minimum, go through some magazines and cut out the letters to spell “burn book.” But you can add some other elements if you want. Glue on the letters and let it dry again.

Step 3: Fill the pages

Once the outside is done, you can fill the inside pages however you want. Add some photos of your friends and write some nice things about them. Or just add/draw some pictures of fun events you’ve enjoyed. Basically just scrapbook however you wanna scrapbook!

Step 4: Post on social media

If you plan on participating in the movie/craft night tomorrow (we’re starting at 8pm EST) you can use the hashtag #SayCrackAgain on Twitter and Instagram and follow along with other people’s projects there too. There’s also the Facebook group that you can feel free to post in as well. And if you can’t make it to the actual craft night, feel free to make the project whenever you’d like and share it – I’d love to see what you all can come up with!
