Creative Babes, Vol. 7: ItSeamSew Girls

In today’s creative babes post, we’re talking to two fabulous ladies. Fab and Brittanica each run their own fashionable endeavors, and they also work together on ItSeamSew. So today, we get to learn how they initially got into fashion, the advice they have for other fashionable ladies, and even their favorite Girl Scout cookies. Read on for the full interview!

When did you first start getting interested in fashion?

FAB Nation: I’ve always loved fashion ever since my mom started dressing me up while I was young. I knew I wanted to be a part of the fashion industry once I started being adventurous with my creative skills; I started sketching out a shoe and clothing line. I would always visualize how the manufacturers sewed the clothes together. My mom then decided to buy a sewing machine and I was fascinated by the process. At that point I knew I belonged in the fashion world.

Brittanica: Wow, this one is pretty nostalgic for me. I knew I had an interest in fashion when I kept rewinding the dressing room scene in the movie Life Size. I was only five years old at the time, but I knew that Eve (Tyra Banks) looked fabulous and I wanted to dress like her. When I seen the movie B.A.P.S, I was a goner. I knew that I wanted to create my own styles and have confident people wear them!

How would you describe your personal style? And do you see fashion as a creative expression?

FAB Nation: My personal style would be between Glamorous Chic and Street urban wear. I find myself always going back and forth with those two. I really love flashy clothing and if I’m leaning towards the street wear I love unisex clothing. I do believe fashion is a creative expression, because it’s a great way for people to express themselves and to feel comfortable and confident in themselves. Even when it comes down to how you’re feeling, that can determine how you will dress that day.

Brittanica: I don’t have a personal style. I have so many facets to my fashion, that I could be a certain way today and the polar opposite the next day. You’ll see the comfy-chic girl today and the glitzy & flashy girl tomorrow! I most certainly see fashion as a creative expression. It could show who you are and describe your personality with the way that you wear your necklace and/or tie.

When and why did you decide to get into blogging? What is your favorite part about it?

FAB Nation: I’ve always wanted to be a fashion blogger, but I’ve never made the time to do it. Once I met Brittanica and there was a huge connection, I knew we would go far with it. We have similar passions and we are always on an adventure in the city of Los Angeles. I just thought we should definitely share our moments with the world and be fabulous together.

Brittanica: I have always been a writer. Every since I can remember, I’ve been writing poems and music. I actually have a huge interest in journalism, so in addition to me being a full time fashion design student, I decided to write about my career…Fashion!

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into fashion blogging?

FAB Nation: If you want to get into fashion blogging or blogging period, you should know that it is time consuming and is fun as well. You can use blogging as an open window for something that you love as well. People love reading articles and updates about something they have an interest in; so give them something to read about.

Brittanica: Find your thing, find your person and/or partner if you think you’ll do better with one, and never get discouraged. There are very successful fashion bloggers in the world, but you have to understand that it takes hard work. You can’t expect to post one thing and get a thousand followers the next day. Most of us aren’t that lucky, so stay positive. FAB and I are upcoming in the industry and we constantly remind each other that TIME and FAITH are the keys to success!

Do you have any other creative hobbies aside from fashion blogging?

FAB Nation: Aside from blogging about fashion my creative hobbies are dancing, photography, sewing, making fashion sets online and off, creating designs in Photoshop, and also architecture floor-plan sketching.

Brittanica: Whew! This list could be long, so I’ll cut it short! I’m a writer, author, fashion designer, actress, and musician. I also have a huge interest in PR, so I stay involved in internships that’ll help me succeed in that industry as well as fashion.

What is your favorite type of Girl Scout cookie?

FAB Nation: My favorite Girl Scout cookie is the Shortbread. It’s so delicious and perfect at any time of the day.

Brittanica: Peanut Butter Patties! I’m a sucker for peanut butter!
