Pico de gallo (literal meaning: rooster’s beak) is a traditional Mexican uncooked dish made from chopped tomatoes, white onion, and chilis (typically jalapeños or serranos). Other ingredients may also be added, such as avocado, shrimp, lime juice, fresh cilantro, radish, cucumber, or firm fruit such as mango.
The versatility of this salsa is limitless! Pico de gallo can be eaten as a stand-alone salad, or served with tacos, nachos, black beans, refried beans, or any other Mexican dish!
Note: if you prefer a smooth salsa instead of chunky, put all the ingredients in the blender.
