TJC News: Sir Elton John Vows to Boycott Dolce and Gabbana

by: Neki Bosh

In a recent interview with Italy’s Panorama magazine, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the dynamic duo of the famous brand Dolce and Gabbana made statements that have touched an entire community and not in the best way.

In the interview they told the publication, “We oppose gay adoption. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed. ” Dolce said that creating children “must be an act of love”, adding: “You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri (for) rent, semen chosen from a catalog.” Gabbana then said: “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

The statements infuriated Sir Elton John who has sons Zachary, four, and Elijah, two, with husband David Furnish, who were born to the same surrogate mother in California in 2010 and 2013. Sir Elton took to Instagram and posted the following statement:

“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”

Fans and other celebrities alike are voicing concerns over the duos statements. We expect this will be a rapid fire, and there may be an apology issued soon. We’ll certainly be following the developments…
