Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Pure Fragrance Review

Calm down, I'm not turning into a Smurf. I'm just going a little blue in the face with the amount of times that I have raved about the Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Pure fragrance to one of my friends, Steph. She's worn DKNY Women since it first launched and I admire her loyalty to her signature scent but for a while now, she's been talking about giving her style a fragrance upgrade and switching it out for something new.

As soon as I smelt L'Eau D'Issey Pure, I had her in mind and couldn't wait to recommend it to her. While they don't smell the same at all, they do both have an aromatic fragrance, freshness and allure to them. I thought that if that was what had attracted her to DKNY then the Issey Miyake scent was a sure fire way to upgrade her to something new and a little more luxe. Naturally, this perfume junkie was correct as after a few occasions of raving about it, I received a text one afternoon to say that she was in John Lewis buying the 90ml to keep at home and the 30ml for her handbag.

When she loves something, she commits fully! I'm not surprised as it was one of my favourite fragrances last year too.

Released in 2016 as the second chapter in the story of iconic 90s fragrance, L'Eau D'Issey, Pure is an unusual, alluring scent that has an air of mystery about it.

The water droplet shape of the packaging of Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Pure is the first contrast to the original that I noticed; crystal clear, minimalist and a great demonstration of the tag line #SuspendedMoment. The scent itself is an absolutely stunning, aquatic floral and I actually prefer it to the original womens fragrance which was far heavier on the citrus and floral notes.

With contrasting top notes of Crystalline Lily-of-the-Valley and bright Orange Blossom, a heart of Damask Rose and Jasmine and a base of woods and my favourite, musk, it is certainly a fragrance of contrasts. The result is a beautifully fresh and floral perfume that is strong enough to last all day long. This is unusual for a more fresh perfume; perhaps its the gorgeous musk base.

I love that the fragrance is light and deep at the same time; I feel as though I reach a deeper level of the scent, the more deeply that I breathe it in. Just like a drop of water into the ocean. Funny that, given the shape of the bottle.

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Pure is housed in a crystal clear water droplet which signifies a suspended moment, like time standing still. The packaging is stunning; simplistic and classic. It will never go out of fashion, just like the perfume itself.
Available in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml bottles there is a Pure fragrance for every sized handbag and dressing table! My advice? Spoil yourself and go for the big bottle. Buy a Travalo to transfer some into for your handbag.
