The Duchess of Cambridge Paints and Plays in Smethwick
The Duchess of Cambridge spent the day in Smethwick carrying out a few engagements through her patronage with EACH. It was a fun day of painting, singing, and playing!
First up, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Emma Bridgewater Factory. Emma Bridgewater is a beloved British insitution, featuring pottery and homewares made in England. The distinctive designs have become a favorite of the posh set (even Cressida Bonas owns EB plates!).

The Duchess of Cambridge contacted Emma Bridgewater to collaborate on a project for Kate’s patronage, EACH. Emma Bridgewater designed a series of mugs, with proceeds going to the EACH Nook Appeal. Read more about the fundraising efforts here.

At the factory today, Kate toured the facilities, met with staff, and even tried to paint her own pottery! The Duchess had a go designing a plate and mug.

She was reportedly painting ladybird patterns, just like the ones featured on the EACH mugs! It would be an incredible opportunity if Kate’s painted pieces were auctioned for charity. (Just an idea – wink wink)

Kate also had an opportunity to meet with children and families who work with local EACH facilities. She met with 16-year-old Chloe. Chloe presented the Duchess with a painting of the Lake District. Many will remember that Kate used to holiday there as a child!

Today was the first day to pre-order the EACH mugs from Emma Bridgewater. The smallest mug is $26.50/£14.95 and free shipping is offered for purchases over $30/£25. £5 from the purchase is donated to the EACH Nook Appeal. We will most definitely be ordering ours!
After departing the factory, the Duchess of Cambridge traveled to the Cape Hill Children’s Centre, a facility operated by Action for Children.
Action for Children is an organization that works to support children and families in difficult situations. From domestic abuse to at-risk youth, they provide safe and nurturing facilities and programs. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been the royal patron of Action for Children since 1967.

The Duchess met with children and families who benefit from the Cape Hill Children’s Centre and the services provided by Action for Children. The room was filled with excited little ones and even more excited parents!

Kate participated in play time, colouring, and even a sing-along during her visit. The children were very quick to warm up to the Duchess, even giving her high-fives and gifting her with bracelets!

For today’s events, Kate looked lovely in blue. She chose a dusty cobalt coat from Max Mara’s Sportmax line. The coat is from their Winter 2014/2015 line. Many bloggers were feverishly searching, but KateMiddletonStyle.org finally found it! A similar coat by the brand is available at Saks.

Kate also wore her Seraphine “Florrie” dress, which we saw previously this year. The ocean-inspired dress is backordered but you can still purchase it for $179.

For accessories, the Duchess wore Jimmy Choo “Georgia” pumps and carried her LK Bennett “Frome” clutch. She chose her sapphire earrings and Cartier watch to complete the look.

Today’s events were a fantastic example of Kate’s ability to bring awareness to a cause. We have no doubt that the EACH Emma Bridgewater mugs will be a massive success and, with any luck, they might just sell out!
