Before and After: A Bachelor's Living Room Gets a Stylish Upgrade

We must say, when we first laid eyes on this stunning makeover, we were transfixed. Washington D.C.-based designer Lindsay Speace took on a dated two-bedroom townhouse in nearby Arlington, Virginia. Her mission? To transform the bland home’s lacking interior into the perfect retreat for her bachelor client. “The townhouse was originally built in the early 1980s and the previous owners—an older couple—really hadn't changed a thing,” the designer tells us. “I was brought on to take it out of its time warp.” By brightening up the space with new paint, adding architectural interest with cabinetry, and creating a flexible furniture plan featuring a mix of materials and styles, Speace gave her thirty-something client a home to be proud of, and show off.
