Baby Jogger City Mini GT double stroller review

It is no secret we are big fans of the Baby Jogger strollers. One of my favorite of all time may just be the Baby Jogger City Mini GT Double Stroller

. We’ve been testing this stroller for over eight months and using it for both everyday use as well as airplane and road trip travel and I am excited to share our thoughts with you, today!

Things I love:

Maneuverability: The City Mini GT double is super maneuverable. It is a cinch to push with one hand and can turn on a dime. For a side by side double, it is on the narrower side so there is no trouble getting in standard doorways, navigating around busy streets and zipping through crowds of people.

Seats: Each seat is completely independent of each other so one child can be fully reclined and napping, canopy down while the other can be upright with the canopy recessed. The seats on the City Mini GT double recline to nearly flat so work well for very little ones or big ones that love a good stroller nap. The seats are nicely padded with easy to use five point harnesses that can be used as only three point harnesses (lap belt). I LOVE the mesh back to the seats. As they recline, the back is mesh which creates awesome airflow for little ones.

Canopies: As with most Baby Jogger strollers, the canopy on the City Mini GT double is awesome. They provide nearly full coverage with two peek-a-boo windows. The peek-a-boo windows have a handy little velcro strap that fixes them in the open position. It is so nice to have such a large, UV 50 canopy and one of my top considerations for choosing a stroller.

Fold: Again, another fantastic Baby Jogger characteristic but the fold on the City Mini GT double is incredibly easy. You simply lift up on the two loops on the seat and viola, your stroller is folded. It even self locks with a clasp on the side making it a truly two handed, one step fold. I have traveled with the stroller by myself with the girls countless times and I will tell you that the ease of this fold is invaluable. The weight of the stroller (32.5 pounds) is also manageable for me to pick up and lift in/out of a trunk. The fold is also very compact, taking up minimal trunk space (as compared to some other folded strollers) leaving you plenty of room for groceries, luggage, etc. To unfold, simply lift up on the clasp and pop the frame open. A stroller doesn’t get much easier to use than the City Mini GT double.

All terrain wheels: The difference between this stroller and the City Mini double is the wheels. The GT has all terrain wheels (which give it a higher child weight limit than the City Mini). The wheels help to create a super smooth ride and making going over uneven sidewalks, bigger curbs, grass, you name it a non issue. We have taken this stroller on the beach and it powers through the sand, no problem. Since we do use this stroller so frequently for travel, I love having such a high functioning stroller with us – home or away.

Grows with your children: The combined weight limit for children is 100 pounds ensuring you’re little one will probably be over the stroller life before you outgrow it. Further, you can use an infant car seat adapter

or bassinet attachment (both additional purchase) making it suitable for newborns. This is a double stroller for all ages and stages.

Considerations:

To be honest, there really isn’t much I don’t love about this stroller. It is just so darn functional and really a dream to use. A few things to consider though…

– The seats are fixed, meaning you don’t have any other seat configuration options you do with some other side by side strollers. However, as mentioned above, you can easily add an infant car seat adapter (which we did when we first got it) or even purchase a bassinet. One thing about the infant car seat adapter is while it is really helpful and functional it is quite large and can stick out a little far from the stroller. This was not a deal breaker for us as we knew our time using the infant car seat adapter was finite but is worth mentioning and a place Baby Jogger could improve on this stroller.

– The storage basket is nice sized but not great. There is plenty of room for a baby carrier, Skip Hop Pronto diaper changing bag and a few other goodies but it is not the gigantic storage you see on some other strollers. The under storage can be a little hard to access BUT there are two very roomy mesh pockets on the back of each seat that really make up for the not-so-huge storage basket below. As one who loves huge storage, I am totally fine with the storage set up here. It works for travel and everyday.

All in all, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT double is a great stroller for urban or suburban lifestyles. The super easy fold makes it great for travel as well as everyday use in/out of cars. Its manageable size for a side by side double makes it doable in urban environments. In fact, it is one of the only side by side doubles I see on the crazy streets of NYC. In my opinion, the City Mini GT double is one of the best on the market.

What do you think? Do you have the City Mini GT double? Love it as much as I do?
