The Wise Baby
The Wise Baby - The Definitive Baby Blog
It’s official, we have a two year old! We’re wading into the terrible twos and realizing that the little Man is every bit a little boy, and no longer a baby. I loved the idea of a lumberjack theme from the minute my husband suggested it; here’s the inspiration behind the party. In reality it turned out better than I could have imagined. All thanks to a few incredible Etsy designers and our friends and family!
The dessert table featured some of the little Man’s favorites! Glazed and candied maple bacon donuts, S’mores pops, stunning lumberjack cookies, Twix as timber logs, and of course the delicious cake with the perfect cake topper. The zinc letter N from his nursery made an appearance on the dessert table, as did one of my other favorites, the don’t feed the bears sign. The buffalo plaid blanket was actually a cozy find from Old Navy that doubled perfectly as a tablecloth, and the oil lantern was the ideal little rustic touch of red. This was all offset by a burlap backdrop and a festive lumberjack birthday banner.
We also had a fun DIY trail mix bar. I love interactive food stations for parties, they are the perfect way to get your guests involved. Ours featured Chex mix, white chocolate chips, caramel corn, M&Ms, yogurt covered raisins, and mini marshmallows. The trail mix bar was a hit with both kids and adults!
Since the party wrapped up in the evening we decided on pizzas for the crowd. But I also wanted something fun for the kiddos, and I can’t think of anything my little Lumberjack loves more than pancakes. I love these organic mini pancakes from Trader Joe’s. I created stacks of pancakes for the kiddos with toppings that included maple syrup, chocolate chips, blueberries and strawberries. They were a total hit, and the mini pancake stacks looked oh so adorable!
I wanted to do something different with the favors this year. Last year we went with stuffed animals for his safari themed party. This year we decided on fun lumberjack themed shirts. It was so much fun designing the shirts, and hopefully they’ll get more use out of it than a traditional favor.
