The Wise Baby - The Definitive Baby Blog

Guys. I need help. I really do.

Can you hand in your two weeks notice on being the mom of a 2 year old? Is that allowed, or is it generally looked down upon?

I just can’t. As a first time mom, this is resultantly my first time parenting a 2 year old. I don’t know what I expected, but I’m fairly sure it wasn’t that my sweet, active little boy would suddenly become overtaken by a toddler demon that threw a 25 minute tantrum last night because I said that no, he couldn’t have a doughnut for dinner and that hey, when you throw things, they get taken away.

The week before, I decided that since he has decided that he hates having diapers on and tries to take them off, we should start potty training. I was all geared up for this 3-day method I had heard so much about, and blocked off the time to do it.

Two hours in, I thought I was going to lose my mind. By Night One, I was foolishly thinking that Day Two would be better. By nap time on Day Two, I was furiously googling all the things that were going wrong. By 6 PM on Day Two, I told my husband to put him back in a diaper because I was done. DONE. That night, when my husband went to work and Jonathan was in bed, I turned off my phone and sat on the couch in dim-lit silence with a glass of wine.

Please don’t picture a serene woman casually splayed out glamorously. Think of a sweaty woman with toddler pee on her clothes, sitting rigidly upright with her eyes closed, deep breathing and trying not to cry. That was me.

So forgive the simplicity of this installment of Real Mom Recipes. My soul has nothing else to offer you all today.

(Which isn’t to say that they aren’t delicious. I can’t make them fast enough around here, and its a great way to 1. get some more fruit in your kids, and 2. keep yourself from having fruit go bad. Plus, they take about 2 minutes to make (outside of freezing time) This combo is full of tropical flavors, which I love, but feel free to be creative.)

Frozen Fruit Popsicles

Go Go Go Gourmet for The Wise Baby

  • 4 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups fresh pineapple
  • 1 mango
  • 2 T creme de coconut

Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Mixture does not necessarily have to be totally smooth (if you like chunks of frozen fruit in your ice cream or fruit pops). Pour into popsicle molds, insert sticks, and freeze until firm.

You can find my other recipes for TWB HERE as well lots more on my site, GO GO GO GOURMET.

Keep fighting the good fight out there!
