Real Moms Favorite Baby Products – Abby

The Wise Baby
The Wise Baby - The Definitive Baby Blog

Happy Wednesday wise ones! We’ve got a great list of real moms favorites today, although I may be biased because every single item on mama, Abby’s list I would call one of my absolute favorites, too. And as a former Chicago resident myself, I love hearing from someone that shared the same on the go, urban lifestyle. Enjoy Abby’s wonderful list of products and if you would like to share yours, you can bet we would love to have you. Check out all the info you need to submit, here.

I am Abby; a first time mama to a very busy 14 month old boy, Alec. We live in a small apartment in Chicago, IL. I am all about keeping clutter to a minimum, and finding products that work for our family and our on the go lifestyle in the city. In all the stages of having a baby I have found products that I love (and many I did not love!) – and I would love to share with you what works for us in this fun & busy stage!\

1.) Baby Jogger City Mini GT

– This stroller is amazing. I have had so many soon-to-be mamas stop me while out walking and ask if I like the stroller. I get so giddy to explain to them how much I love it! It is so durable, you can maneuver it with one hand, and it folds like magic (with ONE HAND!!!). It has forever air wheels, so it is a nice smooth ride for my little guy and he loves sitting back and watching the city go by.

2.) Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair – We started out with a cheap, chair top seat as we thought it would be a space saver in our small apartment. It did take up a little less room, but I can list ten things I loathed about that seat, and none that I loved about it. We dealt with it for about 3 months, and then found the Tripp Trapp and I (and my son) have been a happy camper since. It can hold up to 350 lbs and your child can use it from when they can sit up. It does not recline or work for really young babies, but it works well for those who sit up on their own. The tray is at a nice height and it looks stylish in any home. We currently have the padding on the seat, but it can all be removed and then it is even easier to clean up. It comes with a high price tag, but I believe it has been worth every single penny.

3.) Skip Hop Pronto Changing Station

– I love this so much I got it for my best friend who recently had her first baby and I plan to get it as a go-to gift from here on out. I bought this when my son was about 10 months. I don’t know what I did all those months prior to that. Living in the city we walk a lot, and we often find ourselves out for a walk and decide to hang out at the park, or grab dinner at a restaurant with friends. This changing station has a pad to lay your child on, it holds about 4-5 diapers, a package of wipes, and has an outside zipper pocket as well. In that pocket I keep a bib, a placemat (for eating out), Boogie Wipes, etc. and throw it in the bottom of the stroller whenever we go out. All the essentials are then with us at all times!

4.) Boon Grass Countertop Drying Rack

– A lot of people mention this, but it really is so awesome. I have used this since day one and I continue to use it. It is not an eye soar (it’s so cute!), and it allows items to dry completely! Instead of bottles and pump parts cluttering it, it is now filled with sippy cups and training forks!

5.) MAM Night Glow in the Dark Pacifiers

– my son is 14 months old but still takes a pacifier at bed time. These pacifiers are every pacifier using parent’s dream. They literally glow ALL. NIGHT. LONG! I can walk into my sons pitch black room and immediately spot the fallen pacifier if I need to. I also keep one on his dresser so incase it goes behind the crib, I know where one is at all times.

6.) HALO SleepSack 100% Cotton Wearable Blanket

– these are just awesome. They hold up so well in wash after wash, and they continue to get softer. My son loves sleeping in them, and I love the peace of mind of him in them instead of a loose blanket. All I can say is I wish they made these in adult sizes!

7.) Lizze Homemade Moccasins on Etsy – Lizzie is my go-to for awesome, custom, handmade moccasins. I cannot say enough good things about her products. She makes them all by hand and is a mama herself (with 5 children!!!) living in Utah. We’ve gone through a few pairs and I love how cute they look on my little guy’s feet!

8.) Itzy Ritzy Sealed Wet Bag

– we used these all. the. time. I have a cute girly one for me to hold my phone, cards, etc. while at the beach. We have a zillion mini Snack Happens bags that my son uses for his snack while we are out and about (he’s not a fan of the snack trap type of snack container), we use the medium sealed wet bag for sunscreen, bug spray, aloe, etc when we go on vacations, and we also use a large wet bag for wet swim suits after the beach or swim lessons at the pool. I love using and washing these instead of using plastic bags that get thrown away.

9.) Re-Play table ware

– I found these little gems and have not looked back since. The bowls are perfect size for my son and my husband and I used them as well! They are all made in the USA out of of recycled milk jugs (win!). The utensils and divided plates are equally great!

10.) B. Whacky Ball

– my son received this for his 1st birthday and immediately loved it. He can hammer the balls himself and when he is not hammering the balls, he’s wandering around the apartment with the hammer. It’s a fun toy and the colors are beautiful!

a bonus favorite product, if you want to list it: Johnson’s Baby Hand and Face Wipes

– being a kindergarten teacher I’m always thinking about germs! We use this daily after the park, after the library, or after a froyo treat! They smell so clean and leave little hands germ free!
