A Few of My Favourite Thing #9

Hello!

Happy Sunday! I thought I’d take a little break from all the travel bits and bobs and summery outfits (not exactly legs-out weather over here at the moment, is it? yuck!) to round up a few of my recent favourite things, ’cause who doesn’t enjoy a few links to click through on a Sunday? I know I do, as well as big long Pinterest sesh on the sofa. The perfect weekend activity (that and eating pancakes).

This one includes a new hair find, some yummy treats and a little bit of wedding planning…! Without futher ado…

Eat: Afternoon Tea

If you know me, you’ll know I’m a fan of a good afternoon tea. This is why I just had to test out the Disney ‘Into the Woods’ themed afternoon tea at Sketch with my mum. I like my afternoon tea to stick to tradition somewhat – I like my egg sandwiches and don’t want them replaced for something too fancy, and this is what Sketch gets right. Whilst there might be a quails egg and tiny dollop of caviar on top, the classics are there, just re-vamped slightly. I also adored most of the cakes and desserts (the little red riding hood choux pastry was a highlight!) and would go back to sample them again in a heartbeat.

The Into the Woods themed tea is only available until the 7th of June, so you’ll have to be quick to book yourself in if you want to give it a try too!

Read: Make My Lemonade

It’s been far too long since I’ve given other blogs any sort of love here on WishWishWish. I think it’s a shame…it’s almost not done anymore, especially amongst ‘bigger’ bloggers, keen to keep their audiences to themselves. Which is silly of course, because perhaps that’s how you found me in the first place, an article on somebody’s blog. Sharing is caring and all that.

So, if you don’t know her already, meet Lisa of Make My Lemonade. Her blog and various ventures always inspire me. She’s super creative and you won’t find DIYs like hers anywhere else – they are always so unique. I only wish I was in France to join her at a workshop.

Her latest launch (she already has a brill online shop stocking clothing patterns and temporary tattoos) is a clothing line, and whilst it currently only consists of a few pieces, I want them ALL. I promise you’ll love the collection too.

Beauty: Maria Nila

Oh my poor hair. I’ve never cared for it particularly well, but lately I’ve been on a bit of a motivational kick that has included a new skincare routine, more thorough hair removal (oh hey summer legs!) and a new exercise regime. Whilst I’m at it, I just as well start taking care of my hair properly, too, amiright?

I was recently sent a selection of vegan hair products from Swedish brand Maria Nila, and couldn’t wait to put them to use. The Cacao Intense wash-off dye went in first in the hope that it would give my fading brunette locks a bit of a boost. It was rather intimidating as it’s almost black on application, but after stepping out of the shower I could see already that my hair wasn’t suddenly darker, but it had indeed refreshed the colour slightly.

I finished up with the shampoo and conditioner. Now I have a confession to make – I never use conditioner. I have such fine light hair that conditioner weighs it down and makes it feel even flatter and finer than before, and sadly this conditioner did just that. That won’t stop me from using the colour and shampoo though, as they were great. Plus, I’m a sucker for good packaging…

In the Sunshine: Tart

Remember when the sun came out for 5 minutes? A few friends and I made our way down to Clapham Common for a picnic and some frisbee in the sunshine. But we most definitely didn’t haul picnic baskets all the way South – we had been invited to test out local favourite Tart’s hampers, the absolute perfect way to enjoy lunch on the common.

They serve up what it says on the tin: tarts. Whilst lot of them were packed with veggies (to the delight of my healthier pals), I scoffed down a ham variation before anybody else could get to it, before getting started on the yummy desserts. All you need to do to take out a hamper is show up and decide what you want inside – then you’ll be provided with a picnic basket, blanket and glasses, ready for an afternoon in the sun. I say this as I look out of my window to a grey sky…perhaps pop this one in the diary for a couple of weekends time..!

Getting Organised: Wedding Planning

Guys! It’s officially less than a year until I get married. This means I should probably start getting on with stuff, right?! Whilst I want to dedicate another post very soon to updating you about all things wedding, I wanted to share the book that’s helping me on my way, incase any of you lot are in planning mode, too.

I recently went along to the Etsy wedding fair. Whilst shuffling from vendor to vendor, one girl commented that I looked rather worried. It was the first time I’d been faced with a room full of wedding paraphernalia, and the huge task ahead was beginning to dawn on me. Long story short, I picked up this planner from My Little Wedding Book, and now things are almost beginning to take shape. Eeeek!

Like I said, more on that very soon..!

That’s all for this month! I’d love to hear what you’ve been enjoying recently. Any TV shows I should be watching, or perhaps a recommendation for a conditioner that won’t make my hair weird?!
