Five Things: New Wardrobe Essentials

Haul

Welcome to a new feature that allows me to get a little flat-lay happy! I guess this is a bit like my version of a ‘haul’ – I realised I’d bought a bunch of new things recently and whilst I’m sure it won’t be any time at all before they feature in outfit posts, I got a little impatient!

After getting rid of a few suitcases worth of things at The Bloggers’ Market, I felt that it was a-okay to spend a little money on new pieces – check out some of my favourite bits below! Also, I’m trying out a cool feature that allows you to click on the items in the image to take you through to their shopping page, if you’re interested in getting your mitts on them too!

Fresh New T-Shirts

I was talking to Kristabel the other day, telling her of my irrational and silly notion that I can only wear t-shirts when they’re fresh. Maybe this is because I’m stupid and wear my favourite white Zoe Karssen numbers whilst cooking Spag Bol or other equally as messy foods, meaning that by the time they hit their second wash, they’ll most definitely have collected a few ‘forever’ stains.

So imagine my delight when coming across a big rack of Zoe Karssen tees whilst having a snoop in TK Maxx (the Tottenham Court Road one for any Londoners..!) all for £15. Win! Some ripped denim, boots & and a leather jacket finish off the look just nicely.

Don’t forget to click on the items in the images for links!

Fifty Shades

I love me some winter pastels, and after spying a couple of white denim pieces in Alexa’s ever-so-popular AG range, I thought it was about time that I gave a pale pair of jeans a go. These Topshop beauts feature cute rose-gold detailing, and are the perfect ankle-grazer length.

Pinterest is chock-full of styling inspiration for tricky items like this – I’m thinking lots of grey, perhaps with a dash of blue chambray. And that rhymes, so it must be a good idea. ; )

Dungarees

Whilst cut-off denim dungarees have been part of my wardrobe for a good few years now (again, thanks to inspiration from Miss Chung), I’d not dared to try the longer versions. I think you’re told that if you’re not of Alexa’s proportions, you’re probably going to look terrible, and I didn’t fancy being mistaken for a pregnant lady after a good go at my favourite burger joint.

But remember what I said in my body image post? Bugger it. Wear something with confidence and you’ll always look great. I can’t bloody wait for Spring to roll around so I can wear them out with this high-neck Topshop blouse and cute flats without having to worry about covering it all up with a coat.

Leather Trousers

I had a huge ‘should I or shouldn’t I?!’ moment with these bad boys. I tried them on, and couldn’t decide if I looked pretty cool…or like a I’d dressed as Ross Gellar. It took a second go and rolling them up at the hems to realise I actually quite liked them, and that any departure from my poor black and blue jeans at the moment was very much welcome. I probably picked the wrong day to give them their first outing, as I popped them on before going for burgers – leather doesn’t have a huge amount of give, so it turns out!

Leather trousers are a wardrobe staple – I can’t believe it’s taken me this long! Expect them in plenty of outfit posts to come.

Silk Shirts

You’ll notice there is a theme of quality basics running throughout this post! Whilst having boobs doesn’t always make for the most flattering silhouette when wearing shirts, I like to keep a good stock of different colours for throwing under or over other pieces. This caramel brown shirt from Topshop is perfect for all of those ’70s looks I’m so inspired by at the moment.

I plan on wearing it paired with a button-up skirt and my usual wide-brimmed hat. I think I’ll give the over-the-knee boots a miss this time for fear of looking like I’m heading to a fancy dress party…!

Now to try and stuff all these new bits in my wardrobe – I promise a big Depop update will be coming very soon! x
