Bucket List

Wow! I’ve just returned home from a total bucket-list trip. The kind of trip that you know you want to go on but you’re not sure when. A warm destination always seems to take precedence over thigh-high snow and temperatures below freezing – which is why I jumped at the chance when Three Mobile got in touch asking if I’d like to join them to test out their Feel at Home service whilst in remote Finland.

I’d used the Feel at Home service before when travelling (it basically means you can use your normal mobile data allowance in 16 other countries – Finland included!) because I’m a blogger and can’t stand to be away from Instagram for longer than 10 minutes at a time. It meant I was able to pop up pictures like this pretty much as they happened from the middle of a frozen lake. Big thumbs up!

Of course, one of our main aims was to catch the Northern Lights, but until nightfall we had plenty of other activities to tick off our bucket lists. Cross-country skiing turned out not to be my favourite thing in the world (understatement), but spending time with beautiful huskies was a privilege.

I’m a big dog lover, so couldn’t wait for our husky ride. We arrived at their kennels to find each dog barking like crazy – something rather overwhelming even when you’re used to dogs. But they were just expressing their eagerness to get going, egging each other on with wagging tails.

As soon as we set off, it was silence as they pulled us through snowy forests and across the lake – a wonderful experience. When we got back there was no more barking, just lots of cuddles. I made friends with a beautiful fella called Houndini!
