Summer in London

☀☀☀

Ahh, Summer in the city. Despite travelling to some beautiful countries and experiencing their hot weather, there is nothing like a summer in London, and it appears that it’s finally arrived. There is just something about it – we wait for these sunny days with such anticipation, that as soon as the sun peeks from behind a cloud or two, Londoners are out in full force, as much skin on show as possible, occupying the beautiful green spaces that the city has to offer.

For me, those are defining summer moments. Being able to wander out of the house in just a dress and a pair of sunnies without a worry, meeting with friends to catch up for a picnic in a park, perhaps hiring a bike to see the city in a slightly different way than usual. Things that you could take for granted if you live in a sunny place, but not us Londoners, we lap up every minute of it. The air smells like barbecues.

The summer moment pictured here was on our first day of proper sunshine this week. My friend Reem and I hotfooted it to Starbucks and picked up their new Mango Passion fruit Yoghurt Frappuccino (this may just be my drink of the season!) to cool down before walking up to Regent’s Park to bask in the sunshine. Perhaps it won’t be long before these pale pins of mine look a little healthier!
