Pi Day




In case you're hiding under a rock somewhere, it's Pi Day. March 14th, 3/14, 3.14....clever, right?

Our school celebrates Pi Day in a big way. It falls in the middle of our spirit week, for which we're already going all-out, so we add to the craziness and glorify that tastiest of deserts for one day. Every class competes to bring in the most pies, there are prizes awarded for best, largest, closest in weight to 3.14 pounds, etc., songs and poems about pie, and a contest to see who can recite pi to the most digits (a crazy brilliant 8th grader got to 160 - @_@).
I entered two pies - an apple pi pie and a raspberry blackberry pie, the second of which one first in fruit (whoohoo!). I didn't even get to taste it, but the bit I nibbled white baking was scrumptious. Pinterest score! Just look at that succulent crumb topping...
