#WHERETONEXT: The Kingdom Of Happiness

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4315965 For this blog post, I would be borrowing a word from the Germans: Sehnsucht. A beautiful word with an even more beautiful meaning. Sehnsucht, when translated, means a deep emotional state of yearning or longing for an alternative experience.. a feeling which have becoming a common occurrence for me this past month.
See, I am a city girl. I love the twinkling of building lights seen from afar, the bustling cities awake even at night, the hoots of car horns, the vibration of incoming trains, and the thrill of walking along streets in hunt for random hole in the walls. I am a city girl; born & raised. Even when I travel, I crave for big cities. The cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore... a few of my favorite places to be at. But #WhereToNext... Where indeed?
Lately, I have been thinking about more. Enter Bhutan: the Kingdom of Happiness. The country is quiet on the tourism front. Many travelers tend to skip it because it's not advertised as much; not realizing just how beautifully complex the country is inside.. After doing tons of research about the country, I went to #Airbnb to sigh dreamily over house listings. Not surprisingly, I didn't see a lot of house listings that are located in Bhutan. One, however, stood out, and I have never forgotten about it.

Ma-chhim is a heritage house with 5 rooms and 3 bathrooms. One thing that caught my eye (aside from the gorgeous bedroom!) is that in the listing, they repeatedly states that their house is where "guest can experience true Bhutanese style." What more could you possibly ask for?

According to the listing, you don't necessarily have to stay in the house overnight if you don't want too; guests are encouraged to visit the house to just enjoy the stunning view, try traditional Bhutanese food and traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath. The house has its own kitchen, heating and parking spaces if you need it. You can even tag along your furry friends, if you want!
I know this house is just a tiny glimpse of Bhutan, but if this is what the rest of Bhutan looks like well, now I know why people call it the kingdom of happiness! I would gladly give up the bright lights & big cities for even just a little bit of this paradise.
