Swatch of the Day: Melt Cosmetics “By Starlight” Lipstick

So a couple weeks ago, I bit the bullet and purchased a couple things from Melt Cosmetics because I’ve heard such great things about the brand. I got both of the eyeshadow stacks, and the one lipstick they had in stock- By Starlight.

By Starlight Lipstick is a bold deep purple shade that swatches much more vivid than it looks like it would.

I really like the color of this shade- it’s such a bright purple with red undertones that really come through. I also like that it’s matte but has a slight sheen to it so it’s not fully flat.

I gotta be honest, though- I really, reaaaallly don’t love the texture. It’s super, super dry and took awhile to get the color to go on fully because it liked to drag and not go on smoothly. I’m sure if I had applied a lip primer or lip balm prior to putting in the lipstick on, it would have been easier to apply, but I just wasn’t a fan of that and how drying it felt on.
