Unbearably Beautiful Apparatus Studio in Manhattan, New York.

The New York-based creative pair behind the lighting design studio Apparatus, Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson, work with artisans to handcraft the metal and timber pieces, but assemble everything themselves in their studio. Their fixtures, a melding of salvaged components with contemporary materials, bridge the gap between modern and vintage.

Their new, unbearably beautiful studio space in Manhattan, serves as a gathering point for clients and designers, as well as a creative laboratory. Available to visit by appointment – the workplace reveals no sign of the artisanal making process. Instead it boasts a lovingly presented collection of lighting and objects, amongst a mix of enviable selection of furniture and art.

Ages brass, etched glass, leather, and porcelain are combined to create lighting fixtures that fuse sculptural form with hand-worn materials. The result is a warm glow that is at once timeworn and modern. These days the duo also design tea sets, vases, incense and candles. Too fabulous daahling!
