February

29 days. Make them count. Don’t just leap this year, soar. Primroses bloom. Snowdrops sprout. Thrushes sing from above. Wildlife stirs. Welly walks. Windy, wonderfully wild. Up ahead, alert roe deer tiptoe through fields. Grazing ewes feast on grass, content, bellies full. Air fresh. Anticipation. Snow or sunshine awaits. Indoors, slippers on, potter at your own pace. Pancakes. For breakfast? Whisk, flip, stack ‘em up high! In the greenhouse, sow dreams for the seasons ahead. Valentine’s. Galentine’s. Love yourself first. Noticeably lighter. A smidge brighter. The dawn of Spring nears. Pause. Pace yourself. Embrace the beauty of now.

January

The first dawn. A clean slate. Take a breath. Begin.  Wrap up. Venture out. Don’t forget to look up. Brisk walks. Inhale. Blow the cobwebs away. Bare branches quiver in the glacial breeze. Indoors, potted ferns breathe life into bare homes. Slow mornings. Snug evenings. No need to rush. Wooly hats. Leather gloves rescue frostbitten hands. Zero qualms about nights in with no plans.  At windows we watch as snow settles below. Puddles mirror the moon. Evergreen trees. Candles glow. Patient bulbs hunker down, biding their time. Hedgehogs hibernate. Paw print tracks. Fallen twigs. Glassy skies. Midwinter’s magic, mistaken for the mundane. Misunderstood and overlooked, yet again. Pause. Commit to goals from a place of rest. Resist any urge to race ahead. With last year’s lessons in mind, look ahead with hope. Dream Big. Even bigger. Bigger than that! Let’s go.

Wooly hats. Leather gloves. Oak leaves dipped in frost (nature decorates too!) Bracing walks. ‘That festive feeling’ hits right on cue. Red berries dotted amongst evergreen leaves. Robins. Bare branches. Starry nights. Bushy wreathes. Driving home. Festive tunes. Mulled wine awaits! Sequins and sparkles for christmassy dates. Rustic hampers stocked with homemade goods sent with love. Remembering loved ones, looking down from above. Evenings spent wrapping in front of the fire. Clementines and clove. Carols sung by a choir. All the trimmings, drowned in gravy. At long last, we feast. Families flock to the sofa. Board games. Nostalgic memories unleashed. Time stands still. Lazy days give way to lazier nights. Zero plans. Just leftovers. Utter delight. World over, we countdown. With hope, look ahead. Reflect on where you’ve been, where you are, where you’d like to go next…

I.

Dressing Room favourites

Like nature throughout the seasons, I’ll be the first to say that my style has evolved over the years!

These days, I’m partial to timeless, tailored pieces that make me feel good and quite simply, echo the season we’re in…

II.

Home & Garden favourites

I'm happiest when I'm at home pottering in my greenhouse, hosting friends or curled up on the sofa with Ali, Porter, Berkeley and Lumi.

Which is why I pay so much attention to how my home looks and feels throughout the year and tend to let my mood dictate the decor as the seasons unfold...

III.

Beauty favourites

In the same way that a beautiful outfit makes me feel unstoppable or echoes my mood if I’m keen to unwind, I find so much inner confidence in knowing that my hair feels healthy and styled or that my choice of lip colour or perfume compliments the demands of the day...

My favourite Spring flats for all budgets

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad weather attire 💧
A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
The plum tree in our garden is always the first blossom to erupt at this time of year narrowly beating the much loved aubretia that grows in abundance through our old garden wall. As soon as is acceptable I’m out with my secateurs ready to fill vases and prickly jars with its delicate confetti like blooms 🌸
