Protect Your Peepers This Summer with ICU Eyewear!

By now we all know to protect our skin from the sun, right? But did you know you also need to protect your eyeballs?

Not only does wearing sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection help with crows feet (presumably you aren’t squinting when wearing sunglasses – although I often find myself doing it out of habit) but also, according to the Mayo Clinic “UV radiation from the sun can damage not only the skin of your eyelid but also the cornea, lens and other parts of the eye. UV exposure also contributes to the development of certain types of cataracts and possibly macular degeneration.”

ICU Eyewear has some new inexpensive sunglasses that can help protect your eyes from the damaging rays and they look cool as well! I am also happy to say this brand is from my hometown of Berkeley, California.

Cat Eye Sunglasses in Yellow ($21.95)

The Cat Eye Sunglasses in Yellow are very stylish and exactly the kind of cat eye shape I usually go for in sunglasses. These ones have a yellow rim and a tortoise-shell pattern on the sides. They are 100% UVA and UVB protective and are polarized as well, to help against glare.

These have yellowish/brown lenses so everything looks a little softer and warmer, which I like. For some reason that yellow/brown tint helps me squint less, which is a very hard habit to break!

Blue Modern Cat Eye Metallic Temple Sunglasses ($21.95)

The Blue Modern Cat Eye Metallic Temple Sunglasses are also UVA/UVB protecting and are polarized. These glasses are made from bioplastic, which is a sustainable product. They have a black rectangular shaped frame, and a blue metallic color on the sides.

These have a darker, lens than the others but are still more on the brown side rather than grey. They are darker on the top then fade into a lighter shade on the bottom.

I am never, ever without sunglasses (even in the winter) and these cat eye yellow ones are perfect for me. They fit my face really well, which isn’t easy because I have a small face, and they look super cute. The price is perfect because they aren’t so inexpensive that they feel flimsy or anything, but if you lost them or crushed them, you wouldn’t go into shock, like you might with a designer brand!
