Don’t Like to Budget? Stop Doing These 10 Things Instead

Saving money is always important, but making a budget is hardly on anyone’s to-do list. Luckily, there are simple ways to tweak your lifestyle to avoid spending money where it just doesn’t pay off. To save money without making a budget, here are 10 things to stop doing, and paying for, now.
1) Stop Spending on Cable TV
If you’re trying to save money, there’s no reason to pay an expensive monthly cable bill. With websites like Netflix and Hulu you’re likely able to get your TV fix, on the cheap.

2) Stop Buying Clothes at Full Price
There’s no reason to buy clothes at full price, especially if you’re on a budget. Stores are constantly offering promotions, so wait to check out until you have a coupon, and take advantage of the extra percentage off.

3) Stop Paying for Shipping
As our culture begins to shop online more often, the shipping fees begin to add up. However, many stores offer promotions that waive the shipping fee or remove the fee if a certain amount of money is spent. While we’re not advocating that you overspend to save on shipping, hold off on checking out until you’ve spent enough to be eligible for free shipping.

4) Stop Paying a Cover Charge
While nights out with friends are necessary, spending a lot of money isn’t. One of the biggest wastes when bar-hopping – besides overpriced drinks – is paying for multiple cover charges. To reduce your spending, try to find bars without a cover charge, or stick to one for the night.

5) Stop Paying for Fitness Classes
While nothing is more important than your health, paying for one-off fitness classes will only slim down your savings. Instead, look up routines and classes online and exercise for free.

6) Stop Buying Coffee
If you have a long-term relationship with your local Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts, it’s time to call it quits. Getting your daily coffee fix here will only drain your bank account.

7) Stop Browsing Online
The more you browse for clothes, electronics or anything else online, the more likely you will be to make a purchase. Think again before you type in your favorite store’s URL, and spend your time on another website where you won’t be tempted to spend.

8 ) Stop Missing Freebies
Whether it’s a free month of Netflix, a free Redbox rental, a free fitness class or even coffee on your birthday, if you’re not taking advantage of it, start now. Freebies like this are the perfect way to treat yourself without spending any money at all.

9) Stop Paying with Plastic at the Bar
One of the easiest ways to waste money is to pay with your credit or debit card at the bar. To make sure you limit yourself, bring cash only when going to bars, and avoid spending more than you can afford.

10) Stop Driving Everywhere
If you didn’t already know, cars are a huge expense. Between paying for gas, insurance and replacement parts your car could make you go broke. If you can, ditch your four wheels for two, or even just your own two feet.
If you hate to budget, but need to spend less, tweak your lifestyle to cut out unnecessary spending. Trimming the fat, whether it’s paying for shipping, a cover charge or daily coffee, will help you spend less and save more.
