A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. – Mignon McLaughlin
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how having children under my roof really is a fleeting blessing.
Maybe it was Ashley’s post. Maybe it is Riley’s adoption moving forward.
When I was growing up, I thought about becoming a mom. I thought about what kind of mom I would be and what I wanted my days to look like, but I never got past that part.
I never thought about what I wanted life to look like after kids left the house.
We still have fifteen years left (at least!) but I’ve realized that I need to start building the foundation of what it will look like – right now. I want to be sure that I cherish and care for Brian – not just as a father, but as a dear man who has my heart.
Instead of being sad about the littles that are put in my care leaving one day, I want cherish the time and look forward to the next season of our marriage.
