Out & About In Cheyenne

Since we are showing the house now, we go for a lot of walks at the park. Chloe is loving life. She gets to explore new places and roll around in different grass everyday. Apparently, she really loves thick lush grass...

Last week in Cheyenne, Frontier Days was being held. It's a ten day long festival that is held every year in the city. It's considered the biggest rodeo in the country and also the biggest country music festival. Oh boy, not fun for a vegan that hates country music. hahaha Last year we went to California during the week long hell of craziness. Cheyenne is not a big city, during Frontier Days it's been said that the population doubles.

We decided to be good sports one day and walk around downtown Cheyenne. Cheyenne really is small and I would consider it more of a town then city. I know that I will sound pretty negative in most of this post, but something good did happen! We found a really amazing coffee shop. See, it pays to walk around instead of driving.

I did also see a Jimmy John's delivery guy actually delivering a sandwich to someone on a skateboard. It happened so fast I didn't get a photo. It was the single coolest thing I've ever seen since living in Cheyenne. I thought I was in Portland for a second. I also witnessed someone putting a pot sticker on a telephone poll. What would we do without rebels in the world?

Picture of an inflatable butt wearing Wrangler jeans. Bet you won't see this anywhere else!
Cheyenne is not hip or trendy, it's for slow paced people who love to eat meat, watch rodeos, and listen to country music. It's great for the people who love it and if I were in their shoes I would get it. It's just rather hard for someone like me that is complete opposite. It's just not for me, just like they would hate a place like Portland. That is what is cool about different places, they work for different people. :)

Above is a photo of my neighbor across the street. He is selling his yard out for parking spaces at $20 a pop. We live right by the park that holds the rodeo and concerts every night. (Lucky us! *sarcasm*) Everyday our quiet little street is packed with cars and turns into a complete mad house.

It was a bittersweet week. Mixed with lots of humor of people watching and frustration of watching them litter all over the place. I've seen turkey legs, hot dogs, plastic bottles, and underwear (yes, I said underwear) thrown in peoples yard. It saddens me to live somewhere where people have no respect for other peoples property or the planet for that matter. Just motivates me to recycle more and get the hell out of here! So we'd just crank up our Limp Bizkit and Tool as a form of rebellion from our living room. ;)
