CoSTUME NATIONAL Stonehenge Free Festival
CoSTUME NATIONAL designer, Ennio Capasa, was inspired by rock’n’roll music and refinement for the Spring Summer 2015 Collection. Capasa used these ideas to describe the free spirit of women today, while keeping the hard-edged sophistication that CoSTUME NATIONAL is known for. Capasa was taken to the Stonehenge free music festival, “the place of expression to youth culture in search for change.” This natural location inspired Capasa. The collection expresses sophisticated freedom.
Fringe and suede have been traditional festival details since summer music festivals back in the sixties. To make the collection more refined, Capasa added eyelets and lacing to suede and jersey. The collection is edgy but tasteful and captures the vision of a polished look. Each piece of the collection has structure and fluidity. Each fabric and/or leather used has special properties to enhance the collection. The double suede with soft leather is used for comfort. There were six colors used throughout the collection: black, chocolate, purple, indigo, turquoise, and one garment in dust blue. These are his colors of music.
The collection consists mainly of maxi dresses, skirts and boyfriend jeans. Some dresses were very complex with the technical embossed crocheted details. Outerwear vests or waistcoats below the knee are also seen. The short and long vests capture the festival sensations in a sophisticated way. The small details throughout the collection capture the style and show creative freedom. Laser cutting helps create these small details, as well as metal eyelets.
The accessories show sophistication and style. Silk neck ties, sunglasses, cowhide leather necklaces and bracelets, sandals and boots all help describe the free spirited women of today’s world, while remaining sophisticated. The bags made of suede and croco printed have bicolor hayes and have metallic and fringe details. The Spring Summer 2015 Collection surpasses expectation with their creativity for sophisticated freedom.
