colour crush : Pretty Living's colourful vintage wedding style

Last week my lovely friend Ivy Long of Edera Jewelry shared some beautiful images of a gorgeous wedding photo shoot featuring pieces from her handmade wedding collection. As soon as I saw those images and found my way to Pretty Living Magazine's wedding special I felt another colour crush coming on!

But first up, if you don't know of Ivy and her incredible handmade jewellery collection the necklace pictured above is worked in her signature handmade lace (that is hand crochet with silver threads no less!) and embellished with vintage pearls, crystals and beads. Each and every piece she creates is just as delicate and intricate and breathtakingly beautiful as this! I am lucky enough to be the very proud owner of one of Ivy's necklaces and I can tell you her work is just incredible! Uniquely beautiful and an absolute joy to wear! I completely understand why brides covet her pieces as much as they do because they make you feel great. Special even. Please do visit her website and shop to see more of her collection and stop by her Facebook page to keep up to date with her current projects. I promise you will not be disappointed!

So yes, onto my colour crush! In recent years wedding trends seem to have been focused largely around the prairie and rustic farm theme with barn weddings seeming to be most popular. At least that's what I tend to see a lot of and my Pinterest feed which is often choc full of images of long tables using hay bales covered with vintage quilts and crochet tablecloths. Pretty and lovely, absolutely! But a wee bit over done to me. Maybe that's why I'm loving this colourful vintage shoot that's just a little bit bohemian eclectic. Not a brand new trend by any means but it feels really fresh and uplifting to my eyes.

Of course it's all the fabulous floral details and colours that I love most about this shoot. How about that candelabra hanging from the ceiling? It's decorated with gorgeous bright pink silk flowers. And the simple three tier floral cake also with pink blooms complemented by bright over sized tissue paper flowers in yellow, turquoise and yet more pink. Paper flowers are such a huge trend right now too and these look amazing in this setting! All of those amazing colours are contrasted with the natural tones of the fresh roses and Ivy's delicate floral motifs in her jewellery. On first though that mix of floral styles and colours sounds too much but when you actually bring them together magic happens and it works perfectly!

You can see more details from this photo shoot starting on page 44 of Pretty Living Magazine, The Wedding Special here. The digital issue is available for free but you can also buy an actual copy if you wish as it ships to most countries around the world from the US. Also, if you have a moment you should check out Pretty Living too as they seem like a pretty awesome and supportive group of people headed by Charissa Lauren...
