Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 Palettes

Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 Palettes

Urban Decay Naked palettes are very popular since they launched. They are great for those who prefer neutrals more than bright bold colors on their eyes. Besides, if one is looking to achieve an everyday subtle look say for work etc., these are your go to palettes. The shades move around browns, blacks, beiges and grays.

Most of the shades are very sheer (as you can see in the images above) – I tried to show them as clearly as possible, swiped 10-15 times, yet very sheer. Both palettes have a mix of matte and shimmery shades. Although, I feel except ‘blackout’, all matte shades are sheer. They don’t really have a good selection of nude matte shades. I am able to use them only as a base or as a transition shade only. But not create a look only based on the matte shades. If I do try one, that takes adding like tons of product, still doesn't help to a great extent. All other shades, the ones with shimmer, are pretty opaque and easy to apply and blend as well. One more thing about the matte shades is, these can also be hard to blend. So, while I was trying to get a swatch of these on my arm, it was difficult to move them. I think they should work good when wet, but then I think what is the point. Why not buy cream eye shadows instead. For something so expensive I expected a lot from these. The shades no doubt are very pretty. I love nude shades more than bright bold colors as eye shadows and hence, I bought these. But the formula is just fine. I feel MAC eye shadows are much better. Also, I noticed that with NAKED palettes when you grab the product using a brush the particles of the eye shadow separate. Unlike, MAC eye shadows, you don’t have to worry about that. This leads to a lot of wastage of the product. I am always blowing off the powder/ eye shadow particles from the palettes after every use. Again, if that is the case, why not try pigments instead.
I still enjoy them for the many looks I can create with these alone, but nothing too versatile. Be it for work or party, they ain't bad. I don’t use all of the shades, just some of these are my favorites which I de-pot from this palette easily to another palette along with the other eye shadows that I use more. The brushes that come with these get more love from me.

Packaging is very good. The NAKED 2 palette has better packaging though because of the plastic tin. The NAKED palette also comes with a deluxe size of original Urban Decay eye primer (which is the most amazing eye primer ever!) and NAKED 2 comes with a sample size of lip junkie lip gloss in Naked (which has shimmer and I hate shimmer on my lips) plus, a brush with both these palettes.
Overall, they are not disappointing but over-hyped which increased my expectations. It just takes a bit of practice to learn how the matte shades work on you while the shimmer shades are great to work with. I am not going to repurchase these but will look for dupes for few of the shades that I liked in a much better user-friendly quality. J
I bought these from Beauty Bay
Cheers!
