Festival SOS: The Green People Edit

Okay, so I guess before I start I should apologise for the horrendously long break from blogging. Life is cray right now.

Anywho! So, the Green People Festival Pack* (£17.95) featured in my previous Festival SOS post, but I really wanted to talk about it a bit more… Let’s get on with it.

Foaming Face Wash

This product surprised me. I don’t know about you, but a lot of cleansers really dry me out, especially those that foam up or require a lot of water. This cleanser is different thanks to the 96% organic ingredients, I think it’s hard for natural ingredients to feel so harsh on your skin, so this was really gentle and refreshing. It’s a silky foam wash, and I use 2 pumps and melt the foam in my hands into a liquid before applying to a damp face. Then all you need is a splash of water and voila! This makes it PERFECT for festivals when all you might have is a bottle of water. I’m not sure how well this would do at removing make up, but I always go bare faced at a festival so this would just be great at removing all of the dust and grime from your pores. Definitely go for the double cleanse, though. I really didn’t think I would like this, but it was so kind to my skin and smelt so great, I’d definitely recommend it for travel!

Moisturising Shower Gel

I LOVE this. As soon as I opened the bottle and got a whiff I was hooked. Hello Neroli! It’s my favourite scent at the moment and I can’t get enough. This shower gel foams up a treat (thanks to the Yukka), so a little goes a long way – perfect for when you’re washing in a hurry with little water! It’s a lovely soft texture, and contains aloe vera (perfect for using on sun burnt skin) and Marshmallow which soothes redness and retains moisture levels. It’s worth a mention that after using this the bf did comment on how soft my skin was that day, so it clearly does work. Winner!

Anti-ageing 24-hour Cream

This was the only product I was unsure about. My skin is über fussy with moisturisers, so I tend to just stick to my guns. However, when I went to read a little more about this product I discovered that it has won 2 awards, and contains Organic Evening Primrose, Avocado, Squalane from Olive, Green Tea, Baicalin & Seaweed and was intrigued to say the least. It’s a lovely thick cream that simply melts into an almost balm/oil-like consistency on the skin and absorbs really well. It’s fragrance free and feels really refreshing on the skin. Great for repairing damage from the festival elements for sure!

Sun Lotion & Lip Balm

Probably the most important products of the lot. Although it’s a bit of a gamble weather wise, festivals are still huge open spaces, meaning you’ll still get plenty of exposure to the elements. I’ve never tried a natural sun lotion before, but I’ve got to say, I love this one by Green People. It’s quick got an SPF of 25 and is quite thick in consistency, but it absorbs really well with NO GREASYNESS! And I mean that. None. At all. I’ve been using this when I’m just going out and about – usually on my ears and neck as generally the rest of me is covered anyway. I feel like it gives really great protection and leaves my skin nice and soft! This product is formulated for even sensitive skin, and gives a donation to the Marine Conservation Society – nice! I really feel like its important to talk about SPFs and what they mean. I had a chat with the lovely Amy from Green People who explained:

“The problem with products offering very high SPF levels is that although they will give excellent protection against UVB radiation, it is unlikely that they will offer the same high levels of protection against UVA radiation. This means that whilst the skin will not show visible signs of UV damage and will not go red and burn, the UVA radiation can still be getting through and causing long-term damage to the living skin cells in the deeper underlying layers of the skin.”

So there you have it. Keep topped up on a SPF 25 and you’ll thank yourself later! Now, onto the lip balm. I think this is probably my favourite product of the lot. I have no idea why, but I was expecting this to be like sun cream… well I’m glad to say it’s not! It’s a luxurious, thick balm that melts onto the lips instantly. I love it! If you’re thinking ‘I’ve never had sun burnt lips!’ think again. If your lips get dry in the summer, they are sun parched. Also, who wants wrinkly old lips when they get older!? No one. So keep this in your pocket and reapply constantly – you won’t regret it! It costs less than a fiver and is an amazing all-rounder, so well worth the very small investment.

The more I learn about Green People, the more I fall in love with the brand. They have a fabulous loyalty scheme on their site and even have baby, men’s and make up ranges. Definitely check them out if you haven’t discovered them already!
