Celebrate Good Times

Y’all don’t have to press me to admit that my weekly pregnancy updates as well as my ‘Saturday Spoils’ have failed miserably since I got pregnant. My lack of posting probably makes you guys feel like I don’t care about my blog or my readers as much as I did when I first started. But, the truth is I have a ton of passion to get online and write to you guys about what I’m doing and what’s going on in my life. I do, wholeheartedly, apologize for not being able to keep up my previous consistency. It’s just been increasingly hard to do so because of my current “heavily pregnant” condition my blogging mindset has changed so much. The direction I want to go with the format, the style, and the content are ever-growing and being refined.

That being said, I am pleased to say that Lay Bare has survived for a year, as of August 15th! I am thrilled to say that I have been able to contribute to your lives even just a little and there is no way I’d ever have the drive to continue unless it was for those of you who are reading this right now and my loving family. My husband, especially, is constantly encouraging me to continue, evening if it’s been weeks since I posted anything. And, whether this is your first visit to the blog or you’ve been following me over the last 12 months, I appreciate you more than you know! I’ve learned so much from each of your own blogs, comments left here, and instagram posts/tweets. You’re love and support is evident for your fellow bloggers! <3

I am truly grateful at the good things I have in my life despite what I thought were insurmountable hardships that we have personally faced in the last year. I have hinted that since 2014 started, things close to home have been trial-some. I didn’t feel the need to go into every detail involving the tribulations of being a step-mom, or the unpleasant employment change for my husband, or having two weeks to find a new place to live when I was 6 months pregnant… There are so many ups and downs on the roller coaster of life. But, in the end, life goes on. So, again, I thank you immensely for sticking by me (and vicariously, through me, my family) during our tough times when I have been too depressed, overwhelmed, or fed up to even conceive a post concept or tell you about a new product.

As you bear with me during this especially “delicate” time in my life, due to pregnancy, I wanted to share with you some joyous moments I got to capture with my family. I am now nearly 31 weeks pregnant and impatient as ever to meet our little girl!!! I have been in so much nerve pain, swollen, and generally unhappy and incapable during this pregnancy. I have gone through stages or eating next to nothing and stages where I haven’t even been able to feel my left leg; I have even wanted to go a few rounds with my doctor a couple of times. But, with only 9 weeks left, I can’t help but feel the natural excitement that comes when you’re adding a new member to your family and attaching a new string to your heart.

Being a photographer, I know how important is it to have photos of this time in life. Because, once these precious moments pass, you will never have them back. Despite the pain and differences in this pregnancy verses my son, I am extremely happy to have the privilege of carrying a child again. Unfortunately, I’m not at the point financially or physically to rough it through a session with another professional photographer. And, since I am so anal about photos, I didn’t really want the additional stress of making sure someone else was aware of specific photos I wanted done. My husband made the suggestion that, although they might not be perfect, we DIY our maternity photos this time around; make them unique to us and take our time. Therefore, over the past couple of weeks we’ve collected quite a few photos that I’m delighted to show you.

I love, love, love you all! And will post again soon! ;)
