Review | GLTC Bistro Kitchen

From the moment he could crawl, Riley developed an obsession with our kitchen. He would remove the pots and pans from the cupboards, empty the cutlery drawer of kitchen utensils, run off with grocery items and even hide things in the oven or washing machine. Over time, these mischievous actions have developed in to role-play and life skills that he’s gradually passing on to his brother. I often walk in to the kitchen and find them both sat on the floor with wooden spoons in one hand and a frying pans in the other as they cook up a weird concoction of whatever items are lying around the home.

They are both very imaginative little boys and clearly michelin star chefs in the making so i made the decision a couple of months ago that i would get a wooden play kitchen as their main Christmas present this year. Imagine my delight when the lovely people at Great Little Trading Company got in touch and offered me a Bistro Wooden Kitchen for review as part of their Christmas campaign, i literally squealed with excitement.Obviously keen to keep it a surprise from the boys, when the kitchen arrived at the weekend, i sent them out for the morning with daddy and enlisted the help of my niece to put it through its paces.

Everything was packaged well in the box and the items were all clearly labelled so it made the instructions really easy to follow and we had the kitchen up and ready to play with in no time at all. It looks amazing and is made from great quality wood so feels really sturdy and durable.

The Bistro Kitchen is exclusive to GLTC and has been very nicely designed in my opinion with realistic detailing and a host of features including – an oven with functional clicking dials, a hob, a microwave, a washing machine, a removable sink and storage shelves. There is plenty on offer to fuel a child’s imagination and encourage role play.

It doesn’t come with any accessories which is a little disappointing but GLTC do sell a range of play food and kitchen products that can be purchased separately. The wooden pots and pans, utensils and oven glove shown in these photographs came as a set from Amazon and I also have some wooden food for them to use but it’s been put away for Christmas.

The kitchen is of a good size, standing at 87.9cm and doesn’t take up much room at all so would sit nicely anywhere in the home. The worktop is at a suitable height for children and all features are easily accessible.

I know the boys are going to be absolutely over the moon when they discover this kitchen on Christmas Day and i am sure they will get endless hours of enjoyment from it for many years to come so thank you GLTC.
