Spring is the perfect time to take stock of what’s going on in your life and make adjustments. It’s when we participate in “spring cleaning” and tidy up our houses to get rid of all the clutter from the previous year. Spring is a great time to clean up your blog, too. Take a weekend to really focus on some “blog spring cleaning” and get your blog nice and clean for the new year. Here are a few ways to get your “blog spring cleaning” started!

1 // Repurpose older posts and turn them into new content. You can make an old post new again by refreshing the text and putting it on your Facebook page, or doing an “update” post. This is also a good time to see what posts were a hit in the previous year, and see if you can turn those type of posts into a new series on your blog. Give the people what they want!

2 // Speaking of the people, Spring is a great time to survey your readers. I’m writing my first survey right now! Five years, and I’ve NEVER asked you all what you want to see on The Feisty House. Use a survey not only to find out want your readers want, but WHO your readers ARE. Are they single or married? Do they have kids? Are they entrepreneurs, or do they work a traditional 9 to 5? What kind of income do they have? Do they spend their money on the things you blog about? All of that information is so helpful in determining what kinds of posts you should write for the rest of the year.

3 // Make sure you’re still in love with your blog’s branding and aesthetic. If you are, then make sure all your posts have a consistent look and feel that matches your branding. If you aren’t in love with your blog’s branding anymore, it might be time for a little facelift. 4 // Go through your email! Delete what you don’t need and clean out that inbox. Organize your emails into categories so that you can easily find an old email later. This is also a good time to reach out to people you haven’t emailed in a while and pitch your blog to new outlets and new brands.

5 // Organize your Twitter feed into lists. As a blogger, you probably follow a ton of different people, brands and media outlets on Twitter. That can get really overwhelming really quickly. Plus it’s easy to miss out on something you may find really important, like answering a question from one of your readers, or following a conversation between some of your #BloggerBoos. Lists allow you to focus on one topic or group of people at a time, so that you’re seeing and responding to only what’s relevant for you at that moment. I have always SUCKED at Twitter, but now that I’ve organized the folks I follow into lists, I’ve gotten much better!
