BEAUTY | FALL BEAUTY MUST HAVES

I am a closet beauty addict. I love trying new things, I love testing out new looks at home, and one of my favorite pastimes is watching YouTube makeup and hair tutorials. I even walk the long way to work just so I can peek into Sephora. I’ve always loved beauty, but I haven’t always made good choices about my beauty purchases (lots of drugstore buys gone wrong!) and I didn’t consistently invest in beauty products that worked really well because I had other priorities. But that seems to be changing this season…

I’m approaching thirty (my birthday isn’t until March…but still), and lately I’ve been feeling like exploring and developing the more sophisticated side of myself. Not the rushed and hurried and “still figuring it out” self of my twenties, but a more refined, more indulgent, more sensual woman who knows what she wants and needs and is effortlessly confident, but still spunky and youthful. I think my Fall beauty must haves reflect this woman that I’m turning into. One who is willing (and finally able) to make more of an investment in beauty rituals (because really, there’s nothing like pampering yourself). I’m embracing that woman who feels super comfortable and confident in barely-there neutral makeup and glowing skin, but still loves to punch it up a notch with blue-rimmed lids and jet-black nails.

GET THE GOODS | Maybelline “The Nudes” Eyeshadow Palette: Drugstore.com // Burberry “My Burberry” Eau de Parfum: Nordstrom // bareMinerals “bareSkin” Pure Brightening Serum Foundation: Sephora // MAKE UP FOR EVER “Aqua Eyes” Liner (in Majorelle Blue): Sephora // Urban Decay “Naked Flushed” Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter: Sephora // Dr. Brandt “Xtend Your Youth” Face Cream: Sephora // Kerastase Resistance Masque Force Architecte: Birchbox // Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade: Nordstrom // Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour (in Black Satin): Nordstrom

Along with exploring new beauty products, I also want to play around with my hair a lot more this Fall. I’ve spent all summer in protective two-strand twists, and I’m so ready for a change. I straightened my hair for my wedding, and I’ve been rocking a really soft and bouncy roller set since then. I definitely want to incorporate more straight-hair looks into my styling regimen this Fall, which means I need to be ultra careful about two things: heat damage and humidity. So I’m investing in the Kerastase treatment masque to prevent split ends and damage, and I’ll use the Aveda pomade to fight off humidity (so I’m not straightening my hair more often than I have to). I’ve never used either of these products, but have read some good reviews about both, so I’m excited to try them.

Oh, one last beauty “must have” that I couldn’t really fit into the collage: Brazilian waxes. Sure, I know winter’s around the corner and it’s not bikini season in NYC anymore, but if you can afford to do them regularly, even through cold-weather months, I’d HIGHLY recommend them. I prefer hard wax (the type you can use without a strip–it’s less painful!) I got one for the wedding, and I’m definitely planning on keep it up. The slight pain is definitely worth the way you’ll feel afterwards (I believe I used the word sensual when I started this post…)

Any other beauty must haves on your list this Fall?
