BEAUTY | PEACOCK x American Apparel

American Apparel Nail Polish has quite easily become my favorite nail polish. The formula is opaque yet still easy to apply (not many polishes can do that). Plus the colors are perfect. They’re exactly what I want to be wearing on my nails. I wore American Apparel pastels all summer long, and now I’m drawn to their jewel tones for fall.

It was so hard to decide which color to wear first! I’m still pretty obsessed with blue tones right now, so I went with Peacock, and I love it. It’s a really deep, teal color.

I find that American Apparel Nail Polish lasts about 5 days or so without chipping. That’s long enough for me. After about five days, I’m ready to change up my color anyway. And it doesn’t take long to do your nails if you’re using these polishes because you can do a thin coat and still get great opaque color. When I do my nails, I start with one coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps, two coats of polish (you could honestly get away with one–that’s how opaque these are), and then I do another coat of Hard as Wraps. Sometimes I’ll follow up one coat of Seche Vite for extra protection.

I always finish my manicure with a nail dryer. It’s oily, but it ensures all the coats are dry in like 10 minutes. I’ve been using the one by Love My Nails for a really long time (they used to carry it in Walmart for only $1.00). Then I couldn’t find it anymore and started buying it directly from the website. I just searched today, and I don’t think the website exists! There are some random websites that carry it, but I’d try Amazon or eBay first.

I can’t wait to try the other colors I bought. What’s on your nails this fall?
