Creative wedding invitations from Pop The Question!

If you follow Reasons to Dress by now you know all about my friend Gillian who lives in Rome. You’ve seen her style here and remember her from my New Year’s Resolutions post.

If you’ve followed this Rome series you’ve seen us together at the Children’s Museum, the Rome Bio Park, our ridiculously long walks through Rome, in her neighbourhood Pignetto and at breakfast at historic Necci’s!

Gillian is a graphic designer who studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, she’s always been VERY creative and interestingly enough being a mom hasn’t changed that.

You may remember when I was trying to decide what to do for my son’s second birthday and I decided to just take him to Rome instead of spending hours on Pinterest finding and then attempting to make decorations!

Well, in-light of my poor pinterest worthy crafting I bring you some pictures from Gillian’s daughter’s first birthday! Hey, if I’m not going to make stuff at least I’ll share what others are doing! She made hats, balloon decorations, labels for her bubble loot gifts, the cake topper, banner and well….pretty much everything!

Pop The Question!

Now as it turns out creative people are often attracted to other creative people! When Gillian first moved to Rome she got an internship at a design studio in Pignetto run by this really creative guy named Nicola. They ended up falling in love, getting married and having a baby (hence the adorable first birthday decorations)!

But Nicola also has another baby….his projects! For as long as I’ve known him he has been full of energy, creativity and ideas, and unlike most people our age he MAKES THEM HAPPEN. When he married Gillian their wedding invitation was probably the most amazing invite I had ever seen, a pop-up with two little birds that kissed when you opened it. When I got it in the mail I opened and closed it over and over again. I usually don’t save wedding invites, but their’s got saved!

Fast forward a few months after the wedding and Nicola, together with his super creative partner Stefano had a brilliant idea. They were already designing pop-up books, and all kinds of pop-up promotional activity and then they decided to offer pop-up invites to everyone!

Pop The Question offers couples the chance to have very original and fun wedding invitations along with co-ordinating place cards, tags, candy boxes and pretty much anything else you want!

The beauty of the work that they do is that it is 100% done BY THEM, by HAND and in Rome, ITALY. Along with their staff (which is ever-growing!) they follow all orders personally from start to finish.

This may seem like a sponsored post, but it’s not! (surprise!) they don’t even know I’m writing about them. I’m just really proud of what they have been able to accomplish and the invites are amazing!

Like jaw-dropping cool.

In Italy they have had an incredible success and just recently they have launched an English site and also have cheap International shipping.

But the real reason I wanted to talk about them today was because recently they posted these photos of a custom pop-up child’s baptism based on the Little Prince, which I love! How wonderful are these for moms who want to hold a special baptism or kids sleepover birthday celebration!?

One of the services that they offer for people who want the invites but would like to see a sample, is a customized sample complete with your text and colors for only 12 euro.

Everyone on their staff speaks English, and then of course, there is Gillian, my Canadian friend, who over sees all English text as well. Plus, if you are a wedding planner they offer a whole kit for re-sellers and planners!

Have you ever heard of Pop The Question before or pop-up invites? What do you think of their idea?
