Sorry, iPhone

I don’t use an iPhone anymore.

This may come as a shock since I have been the biggest Apple fangirl ever since the first iPod.

But last week, I stepped away from my beloved iPhone. You see, I was always tempted to leave AT&T for T-Mobile. I wanted to get back on a phone plan that allowed me 1. unlimited data and 2. mobile hot spot. When I saw that T-Mobile was buying people out of their contracts, I was even more intrigued. After going to the T-Mobile store with my husband, we finally made the decision to leave AT&T. There were too many perks to pass up. One of them was joining T-Mobile’s Jump Plan. Now I can change my phone every 6 months if I wanted to!

While at the store, about to get an iPhone 5s, I was looking at all the Android phones they can on display. I mean, they had just ONE iPhone and a BUNCH of Androids. They were all biggggg and shiiiiiiny. And I was scared.

What was I thinking?! Moving away from iPhone?! It’s the only smartphone I have ever known. I don’t know how to use Android phones. Would they have all my favorite apps?

But, since I had that T-Mobile jump plan it felt less scary. If I hated my Android in 6 months, I could always go back to iPhone. So, I picked out the Google Nexus 5.

And I have ZERO REGRETS.

2. Google Integration

When I make a phone call, I don’t have to first look up the phone number if I don’t have it on hand. Google search is integrated into the dial pad! For example, if I wanted to call a restaurant to make a reservation, I don’t have to look up the number first and then copy in the number. I can just hit dial!

Caller ID from Google. If there is a number not in my contacts, Google shows the IDs for people and businesses.

Bonus, I have all my work docs on Google Drive, it makes it really easy to see and edit documents on the go.

3. Personalization

I can make this phone MINE. There are so many customizations to make this phone work best for you. I love adding my calendar to the main page. I can have widgets going on my lock screen without turning my phone completely on. It’s a great perk if I just need quick information from my phone.

The more I use this phone, the more I see myself further and further from getting an iPhone again. It was super easy to use this phone and within the hour after getting it, I felt like a pro.

If you ever thought about changing smartphones, I would love to hear your thoughts! In the meantime, check out a fabulous blogger I am featuring today.
