I’m Feeling Blue

No, I’m really feeling it! I have been crushing on blue velvet. This may come as a surprise to you, given my neutral home, but I’m blue with envy over this office designed by Emily Henderson. Blue velvet has been her staple for years, but stores seems to be catching on as well. I remember earlier this year, Pottery Barn’s catalog was even titled “Indigo”. Step aside, Pantone color of the year!

Emily mentioned that she has an old chair recovered in blue velvet. I tend to go for a quick & simple option – buying & customizing. These three chairs are very similar, in various shades of blue velvet & likely cost less {Restoration Hardware}.

You know I’m not going to go overboard…I’m not one to commit to color for long, which is actually one of the reasons I love a neutral paint palette. We have painted & repainted rooms all too many times. Switching out accessories is a lot easier than paint color & furniture. That’s why I immediately fell in love with this pillow cover! The photo does not do the color justice.

I’m also considering blue velvet drapes. If we had plantation shutters, I wouldn’t think twice about them, but I’m a little concerned how they will look from the exterior of our house. Still, they add a lot of drama!

Another way to add a little blue to your home is with flowers. The deep blue hue is a gorgeous contrast to the white bath. {Image via Pottery Barn}

What do you think? Is blue the hue for you?

Coordinately yours,

Julie
