MY BRIDAL MAKEUP || TIPS

Hi loves! As it is still the wedding season all over the world, I thought I'd share with you my personal bridal makeup and some tips. I know how wedding planning can be stressful, so maybe there are some brides, who will find some help and relief here :) Best part - the makeup I wore on my Big Day is actually the makeup you can wear on any occasion, so hopefully everyone finds something "Something" in this post...

As you might have already guessed - I did my own bridal makeup, of course. So I'm sharing with you my own personal tips, which I used for this exact makeup look.

When I was thinking about what makeup to wear, I immediately knew that I wanted it to be very "me" - natural, simple, enhancing my own natural beauty, not hiding it. When it's your wedding day, there's a man, who's marrying you for who you are, why look someone else but you? That's right, no reason.
So, the first tip is... be yourself! The wedding day is not the best day to play with crazy makeup and trying out new "trendy" looks. You want your makeup to be timeless. Ten years away, you want to look at your beautiful wedding pictures and see the timeless beauty. You don't want to look at your photos and think: "Oh yeah, that was screaming trendy in 2014" or something like that.

The second tip is... use your best products! And by that I mean use your favourite products with a good lasting power. Of course, you want your bridal makeup to stay put all day without major smudging, fading or something like that. Use products you know. I mean don't test anything new the week before wedding and I am not even talking about the wedding day itself. You never know, when you will have an allergic reaction. And you definitely don't want to have a rashy face on you Big Day. Other thing is, try to use more longlasting and waterproof makeup. There might be crying and laughing and God knows what else. Make sure everything stays in place!

Use primers! Face primers, eyeshadow primers or even lipstick primers and mascara primers. Use them all! The key tip is to use everything in THIN layers! You don't wanna put on your face a massive chunk of primer, a ton of foundation, then concealer, then powder, blush, bronzer etc. You don't want a cakey face, don't you? Be smart with your products. Use thin layers. You can always go back and build up a bit more. The thinner the layers, the better your makeup will stay. Setting spray will also help you massively.

No SPF! It's good when your foundation has SPF in it, but not for the flash photography. Flash can cause a white cast on your face. You don't want to look like a ghost on your wedding pictures!

Fill in your eyebrows! For me, the most important parts of makeup are your face makeup and your eyebrows. Your face skin is a clean slate. I think nobody would argue that you do want it to look its best. Speaking of eyebrows, they are the frame of your face, particulary of your eyes. Can you imagine yourself without brows? Can you? Do you think you would look any better without them? I think, no :) So, it's worth your time to pay attention to your eyebrows and fill in the sparse areas and set them with a gel or wax. I think that even if you're not a "no makeup person", if you don't go outside without your makeup, try fixing any blemishes or discolouration on your face and fill in your brows. I bet you're gonna rock the world like that! Trust me. It's all about the frame of your face.

Keep it balanced! And I mean your shimmers. Speaking of my own bridal makeup, as I said I wanted it to enhance my natural beauty, so I kept it quite simple. I used neutral eyeshadows all over the place. I applied matte light beige to my entire eyelid, and defined my crease with a matte grey-ish brown. I also highlighted my brow bone and inner corner of the eye. Blended it all beautifully and that is basically it for my eye makeup! See, super simple! I defined my upper and lower lash lines with a black eyeliner pencil and smudged it a little bit to make it look blended, as I didn't want any harsh lines for my natural look. Few coats of mascara completed my eye makeup. At first, I was planning on putting on fake eyelashes, but changed my mind, because I already have long and curly enough eyelashes naturally and didn't want them to look "too much". That is it for my eye makeup.
Going back to all "balanced" thing. Let's talk about your face. You are probably going to use contour powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter. The key is balance! Yes, I used shimmery highlighter on my face, eyes and even my body (between my collar bones for a beautiful shine), but I kept everything else matte - eyeshadows, contouring, bronzer, blusher - everything was matte. The only shimmery thing was my highlighter itself. So it all looked quite natural and balanced in a good measure.

Contour! It is going to make you a bit slimmer, tighter (if you know what I mean). And it's gonna look beautiful on pictures. You can do a standard "C-shape" from your hair line to your cheekbone, and then to your jaw line. Contouring your nose will make it appear a bit smaller. I also contoured my collar bones and my neck. Basically places you need to contour are those, where there's a natural shadow. Keep that in mind.

Check your neck! Make sure the colour of your face is matching the colour of your neck. You don't want to be multicoloured, right? Also, if you are contouring or bronzing your neck, make sure you don't overdo it.

Set your lips! Let's face it. If this is your wedding day, I bet there will be a lot of kisses, drinks and yummy food. You don't want to share your lipgloss with your husband, right? At least, I didn't. That's why I kept my lips so simple, that you wouldn't believe it. I used only two products - lip liner that matches my own lip colour, but just a tiny bit darker and brighter, and a tinted lip balm. Seriously, that's it. I applied my lip liner all over my lips, blended it, and then put on a lip balm. The final step was blotting my lips with a tissue, so they looked not too glossy, almost matte. This step also helps to set your lips in place and make your lipstick stay longer.

And that's how it's done! Long post, huh? Anyway, I hope those tips were helpful for you. It doesn't matter, if it is a bridal makeup or any other makeup, you can always use those little tricks to make your makeup look prettier, more natural and more longlasting! Enjoy your day, friends! :)
