This Week #1

The week when I swapped sleep for caffeine and books (and constantly daydreamed of summer)

Here is a slightly embarrassing confession of mine. I constantly think about blogging – when I am in the shower, when I am in a taxi taking me to school, when I am sinking into the most comfortable padded leather armchair in the library, when I am putting my makeup on for dinner with friends – and yet, I so rarely take time to sit down and write a post. When I do, however, it is one of my favourite feelings in the world. I adore writing. So sipping on a cup of my beloved Earl Grey tea, and glancing through the window at charmingly dark weather, I decided I should revive my early blogging days, and start writing about my life again.

My life lately has been so monotonous. I despise nothing more than routine, but that is exactly what tests scheduled every couple of days demand from me. On the bright side, there is only about a month and half of that routine ahead for me, and then – summer holidays. My favourite two words. Besides, the week after this is off school for us to thoroughly prepare for finals, but I am already organising parties. I cannot help myself. I crave sleepless nights (caused by dancing, not last minute essay writing), champagne, loud music, short dresses and high heels. My parents and teachers would strongly disagree, but I am a firm believer a good party motivates you to study harder (not exactly the morning after, of course).

Anyway, my rather tedious week ended with my best friends at our favourite bar with jazz music, and one too many glasses of red wine. Well, it was just enough wine to get me in the mood for some cheerful overspending on senseless clothes on the internet when I got home. Then I spent the entire weekend overdosing on chocolate eggs and studying.

This week, I…
  • finished reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery – it is such a wonderful and well-written story of two Parisian women who both enjoy art and philosophy, and live in the same building, but come from entirely different social classes.
  • watched An Education and A Single Man – both old favourites that make me wish I lived in the 60s.
  • listened to
Brigitte Bardot – Un jour comme un autre 19 times.
  • shattered my phone's screen (and cried for a day).
  • never left the house without my Lulu Guiness umbrella.
