Skincare Goals

We've already talked about how to build a skincare routine, and one of the most important steps is to formally establish your desires. Also known as skincare goals. As an example of sorts, and to better my skincare routine, I'm talking about my goals today.

1. Wear less makeup. Having a lot of products on my face only increases the accumulation of oils, so I'm putting a small ban on makeup. I'm relying on my Chanel CC Cream to even out my face. Layering an opaque or translucent CC cream has the same effect as a concealer, so I'm cutting out my current product by Make Up Forever. I'm also retiring my bronzer and blusher for now, until my skin can recover for the overuse of products.

I'm also reminding myself that makeup occasionally doesn't hurt - provided that I wear as little as possible for a short period of time. It's only when I get too lazy to take my makeup off at the end of the day, that it becomes a problem for me.

2. Cleanse, tone, and moisturize twice daily. Once at the beginning of the day, and once before bed. Establishing a routine is important, but sometimes I slack on the washing end, so I need to pick it up again.

3. Facial masks once weekly. I have a variety of facial masks in my medicine cabinet, but I need to start using them more often. Replacing masks with my traditional makeup routine is a good option.

4. Wear an SPF. With summer in full force, the sun is only causing more damage to my skin. I need to regularly use my CC cream (see no. 1), but I should also look into finding an SPF outside of that. Something without a color correcting formula - any suggestions for a solo SPF?
