As I’m crafting and getting ready for Halloween this year, I keep coming back to mummys. Not sure why, but it may be those googly eyes (googly eyes are just too fun). My friend, J., and I whipped these adorable scrap buster mummy treats at our last crafting date using my stash of paper scraps. I’m so addicted to making these little guys because they’re so easy to make and so stinkin’ cute.
Flat package of gum or candy bar (most of the ones we made were gum packs and they worked perfectly)
White or cream card stock paper (this is a great project for using up those scraps you’ve been hanging on to)
Scissors
Black marker
Double stick tape
Googly eyes
Simply cut strips of paper, layer and stick them to the top of the candy with the double stick tape. We found that using the marker to highlight the bottom edge of each strip helps give the mummy wrappings depth. With the marker color a half circle for the eyes. Attach the googly eyes with a small piece of double stick tape. And that’s all it takes.
J. and I whipped these up in a short time all while chatting. I’ve got to figure out how to schedule another crafting date with her because I want to make more of these little cuties. I plan on sending these to my daughter and her roommates at college and giving some out to trick-or-treaters that I know have a peanut allergy. But I’d also love to mail some to my nieces and nephews. So you can see why I need to want to make more. Who do you know that would enjoy getting scrap buster mummy treats?
