DIY: bead & tassel necklace

Here comes another rope necklace! This is the second one I’ve made this year, and I like it even more than the first one. This one is rather nautical, in red and navy, with tassels and beads, just right for the warm season. I thought I’d give regular tassels a bit of a twist, by tying them with beads, and I’m happy to say it worked! I was nervous about all that string passing through a single bead hole, but it turns out it can be done with the aid of a thick needle. It would also look great in white navy or gray neon pink, if you ask me.

What you need:

Tassel necklace how to:

Start by cutting a piece of rope of your desired length. To make a tassel, cut a long piece of string, fold it in half and pass it through a needle. Pass the needle through a bead, back and forth, forming loops on both ends. Once you’ve reached the desired thickness, pass the rope through one loop, and tighten with the bead. Cut the loop at the lower end, to form a tassel. Repeat as many times as you like. Finish the rope with ribbon ends for a neat look, then add the jump rings and clasp. Wear with striped shirts on every sunny day! Or make your cat wear it, if she’s into fashion. Mine is undecided.
