Review & Application: Loving this whole Laneige Routine!

Hi hi!!!

This entry has long been composing itself in my mind the past few weeks. I was trying out the entire Laneige base routine for a couple of weeks, and then took a bunch of pictures... then I got busy/ distracted with other stuff and so this entry got put aside for another few weeks. But I do want to feature all these products because 1 - I love them, 2 - they are really awesome products at a great price point too and 3 - I love a routine that's all same brand, same formula/ consistency etc etc.. you know what I mean.

I will start with a quick introduction of each item, swatches and how it applies on my face. Hope you find this entry helpful!

First, we have the new Laneige Watery Cushion Concealer - I was given 3 shades, and the two lighter shades are perfect for me. I have since given the darker one to my sister who is also loving it for under her eyes.

The packaging is a sleek sturdy pen with a clickable end for you to dispense the product itself. The applicator is a firm cushion that allows you to dab and lightly blend the product (though I prefer to use my fingers anyway). I also love how the side of the pen has a 'window' that allows you to see the amount of product inside. At first use you need to go clicky happy for 20-30 times... before you see the product cominng out of the cushion tip. After that you just need to click one time for each use.

The coverage of these concealers are pretty intense. It has a slight moussey thick texture that isn't cakey even when I use it under my eyes. I don't really have any blemish spots to conceal at the moment, but I like to slap on a brightening shade of concealer under my eyes. I also find that this concealer is great for touch ups and also to refresh my makeup at the end of the day.

Overall, I think that this is an impressive product as far as concealers are concerned.. and I do highly recommend it.

Here you can see the 3 shades - like I mentioned, 03 is too dark for me. I can use both 01 and 02 - though obviously 01 is more brightening, especially for use under my eyes. and here you can see the shades and the texture - quite thick.. and the coverage is pretty intense.

Here I applied the concealer - which I prolly applied a bit too much for under my eyes, and haven't blended it out properly... but you get the idea. It is easy to blend and set into your skin nicely. I did not notice any settling into my lines and it is quite long lasting. I also like to dab this on a pigment spot at the top of my left cheek and it works beautifully too.

Most of all, I really like the cushion/ sponge tip applicator. It reminds me slightly of the Maybelline age rewind concealer that has a similar sponge tip applicator.

I usually apply foundation/ bb base BEFORE concealer - but let's back track abit and recap the application of the Laneige BB Pore cushion - I use the shade 21, and I have been enjoying this for something very quick & fuss free. It contains powerful SPF of 50/PA and it gives me enough coverage for the day. I love the natural finish, and it smooths out my skin significantly. I know there are many cushion bb lovers out there, and I think that the Laneige one is really a great one to try. -- I have a review of the Laneige BB Cushion when it was first launched - click here to read.

Next, I would finish my foundation/ bb base with some sort of powder - here we have the Brush Pacts - available in 3 shades. At first when I saw these powders - I thought the different shades stand for the various skin correcting shades - but they are all very different, and you can use them all at the same time.

Let me explain -

use 01 Natural Finish to SET your foundation - it is a skintone color.
use 02 Pore Blur to FINISH your foundation, use it on areas where you have pore concerns, or oily t-zone area - it is a translucent super fine 'HD' type of powder.

use 03 Pink Beam to add some radiance, maybe as a cheek highlight - it is a pink shimmery face powder.

01 and 02 are super finely milled, and very very smooth.
03 can be dusted very lightly all over the face for a night out, or just use selectively on your face for a touch of radiance.

The packaging is quite innovative - it has a built in brush, and the powder is set in the 'cap' of the container. Reminds me of a By Terry apricot powder that I have, and also the Maquillage true cheek blushes that come with built in brushes.

The brush is synthetic but packs a punch in terms of the density and the texture - super smooth and fine brush hairs. There's no prickly bristles that you might associate with built in brushes and they deposite the product nicely. Overall, a great for travel/on the go touch up sort of powder product.

Here are the swatches - I would say 01 would suit a range of light to medium tones as it is somewhat sheer.

and applying the powder...

and after the whole makeup is done, and everything is set.
