Review & Application: Clé de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation

Hi hi!! This entry will be a review/ overview of the new Clé de Peau Beauté base products which I have recently tried out. Click here to read about my little makeover/ trial at their counter recently. This is certainly a very luxe and pricey foundation routine - and I shan't go into the dollars and cents as such things are totally subjective...so I shall only stick to the product performance, and share with you my top picks from this whole routine. Hope you find my overview helpful!

Here's a quick rundown of the products information:

Radiant Fluid Foundation - a completely new type of foundation that veils the skin with layers of light making your complexion lustrously dewy and irresistible. Clé de Peau Beauté technology controls the foundation powder particles on the skin's surface for a new level of beauty. Like liquid radiance, there's been quite a finish like this. - I use the shade O10.

Correcting Cream Veil & Sheer Fluid Veil create a radiant base - enhancing your makeup. Delicately light and deeply moisturising, they smooth onto skin to draw out its natural radiance. Perfectly enhances the beauty of bare skin while it maximises the look and longevity of your finish.

Fluid & Cream foundtion brush - an exquisite makeup brush designed specifically for foundation. Each individual brush hair is meticulously crafted to allow for the uniform application of foundation caressing skin to create a veil of light for a radiantly perfect finish. Just applying makeup is now a work of artistry.

Clé de Peau Beauté also launches new shades of their iconic concealer in the shades Almond and Mocha.

So this is a new foundation that really prides itself on creating that elusive perfect flawless radiant finish. While I enjoy a radiant healthy finish, I don't wish to compromise on another aspect of foundation performance - longevity. But the Sheer Fluid Veil is specially formulated for humid weather like ours. It contains special molecules that adheres the foundation to your skin even when you are perspiring. I personally prefer the Cream Veil - it evens out the skin tone and smooths over any uneven texture before foundation application.

Let's look at some product close ups before I go into the details of the review and application:

Everything is packed in this elegant dark navy packaging with gold accents - they are not heavy though. The brushes are very handy, and delicate to hold in your hand.

A close look at the brushes - which feel really soft.

and the Radiant Fluid Foundation - which comes with a pump. and quick swatches:And here are some application shots:

note - in this demo, I applied the sheer veil followed by the cream veil. On normal days, I would only apply either one depending on my mood. But I just want to show both here in terms of how they apply.

As you can see I don't have perfect skin... well, I can leave the house without makeup on.. but I do have some areas of redness and some marks here and there, so a bit of a good base routine is always essential!

So here, I am applying the Sheer Veil - with my fingers.. because it is so liquidy - If I use a brush it would absorb way too much product. The product disappears into nothing on my skin... and I don't really feel like I am wearing anything...nor feel like it is actually doing anything. I am not sure! It just leaves a very very thin veil on your skin. Next, just for demo's sake, I am applying the cream veil, which I much prefer. It is very hydrating and smoothing, but I won't say it is a pore minimiser type of base. It has a sheer coverage that evens out your skintone, and smooths over the general skin texture. As you can see in the half face pic - the redness in my face has toned down somewhat.

and now, for the main product in this review - the Radiant Fluid Foundation.

The Radiant Fluid foundation has a very emollient silky liquidy formula. I used the brush that's designed for the foundation - will include my thoughts on the foundation at the end of this entry - but there were also a couple of days that I used my fingers to apply the foundation. This is something I always do when I trial foundations because I want to feel for myself how the formula is like, instead of just using a brush all the time.
The foundation - how it feels when I use my fingers, is amazingly smooth and silky (for lack of a better word), it almost feels like you are applying skincare on your face. It also reminds me a bit of the GA Maestro foundation in terms of its soft silky formula.

And the finished half face -

The foundation has a light to medium coverage. It is able to even out my skintone, and gives a very natural radiant finish. Again, more detailed thoughts at the end of this entry.

And just to make everything complete - I will show how the concealer works. I have my Clé de Peau concealer for years.. and it is one of my HG concealers. It is great for under the eyes and also for spots.

and the finished overall look - Overall thoughts -

  • The Radiant Fluid Foundation is a really nice product - it feels good, it is so so so refined and a pleasure to apply. The finish is quite flawless, whether you use the brush or with your fingers. I love the coverage too, it is very lightweight, but gives you an overall improved look.
  • The foundation is not the most long lasting, I noticed visible fading after the 8 hour mark despite using the Sheer Veil. I really prefer the Cream Veil, simply because it seems to be a much better base for me. But it is really up to your personal preference. If you have dry skin, the Cream Veil would be a lot more suitable for you. In addition, I do find that I need to blot more often when I was using this foundation. Normally I would blot twice a day, but with this, I have to blot 3-4 times.
  • In terms of the application - the brushes -- they are super super soft, the ends of the brush hairs applies the foundation smoothly. It is the sort of application that takes some time, you need to work it slowly. But if you are running out of time, I must say using your fingers work fine too. I havent tried using a typical buffing brush with this foundation yet though.
  • There are longer lasting foundations, and there are foundations with just as great finish.. but just assesing this foundation on its own, I will say that the foundation does indeed have a great radiant finish. Perhaps I would go to this very luxe routine for special ocassions when I don't need ot be out for the whole day, and when the environment is likely to be cool and nice. The overall experience of using the base and foundation is very elegant and very pleasant..and did I mention that the foundation has this very nice scent too? It is very subtle but if you are familiar with Clé de Peau products, you will find this scent familiar.
  • The only other foundation I would compare this to is the GA Maestro foundation - simillar in terms of being that "serum silky" foundation.
