I do not often get bombarded with questions and so I have been debating on whether or not to do a Q&A post, but one question and a few comments which keep coming back tend to refer to my hair and so I thought it would be a good idea to do a post all about it and how I care for it.
I inherited my mum’s thick and dead straight Japanese hair but unlike my brothers, mine is lighter than theirs. When I was a lot younger it was actually a golden colour – almost blonde! (

I also have not been to a hairdresser’s for 4-5 years. I usually get my hair cut in Japan because they seem to know exactly what to do but my past couple of trips have been too short to book in an appointment, which is why I trim my own hair every 5-6 weeks.
As awkward as I feel talking about showering habits, I should probably mention that I try to wash my hair every night – something which may not suit all hair types – and I start off by washing my face, followed by my roots/scalp and then I leave in my conditioner for the rest of the time I am in the shower. I suppose you could call this a “deep conditioning” as I leave it in for well over 10mins. I also “brush” my hair with my fingers if I forget to brush before getting in the shower, which is often the case. As for shampoo and conditioner, I use a Carrefour supermarket brand when in Brussels but while I am back in Luxembourg I use Pantene’s normal-thick hair range. I have never really stuck to one brand but I am growing to love Pantene; I especially love their hair masks.
I also use very minimal heat on my hair besides when I am experimenting with curling it – something which usually happens every 2-4 months. I am an evening shower person as I prefer to allow my hair to air-dry which I think contributes to keeping my hair healthy – this takes a good few hours to dry and ain’t nobody got time for that in the morning if they do not own a hairdryer.
If I have missed any details out or if there is anything you would like me to cover, then please do let me know! I would also like to thank you for making it until the end of the chunky post.
