sewing: kid’s clothes week spring 2014 {part two}

part two of Kid’s Clothes Week could also be called KCW: tumble tee edition. I used my serger for all of these tees and leggings, which made for quick sewing. (both sewing machine and serging tips are included in the tumble tee pattern, available here in my shop)

this first tee is made with Charley Harper organic cotton knit from Birch Fabrics, and I paired it with a pair of shorts made from another favorite pattern, the Go To Leggings.

these sweet leggings are also the Go To Leggings pattern, upcycled from a Casual Lady shirt I made last Selfish Sewing Week and just haven’t worn very much. fabric is from Briar Rose by Heather Ross (available here from Hawthorne Threads). I have some of the fabric left from the shirt that I intend to use in a color-blocked tumble tee… but first I need to find the rest of my knit fabrics to find something for the other half of the shirt.

this sweet fawn fabric is available here from Girl Charlee, and it makes an awfully sweet little top.

and last, but not least, is this sweet freezer paper stenciled “westie tee”. so, Kate’s family has a westie name Oscar and Kate likes to tell Oscar to “sit down”, but in 1-1/2yo speak it comes out sounding like “shit DOW osser!” from the second I decided to make clothes for Kate this week, I knew that would have to be included somehow, and I decided that a t-shirt with shit on it would probably not get much use ;) so, the dog silhouette it was.

i used the same paints and general techniques as in this block printing tutorial, but with a freezer paper stencil instead. purple knit fabric is from Jo-Ann.

and there you have it, my Kid’s Clothes Week makes. what about you? did you sew along this season?

happy stitching!
