DIY Fall Lamps

Do you remember when I teamed up with some incredibly talented other ladies to put together an amazing 4th of July party? Well, we brought the band back together to do a Thanksgiving theme with World Market, and it was so fun! I got to have fun doing a simple DIY while the rest of the ladies went to work on their specialties.

While scents, and food, and drinks, can set a mood- nothing sets it more for me than lighting. I love having a million options of lighting in my house. In our dining room alone we have can-lights, a chandelier, and now these awesome DIY Fall Lamps.

I wanted lamps to go on our Card Catalog Buffet we built, but I wanted them to be able to look different easily so I didn’t get sick of them. I mean, how fun would it be to be able to not only change up the look of a lamp easily, but even make it festive for whatever holiday is around the corner?! I found these awesome Clear Glass Table Lamp Bases from World Market and knew they would work perfectly for the look I was going for, especially with these Navy with Jute Trim Lamp Shades.

While I could have filled them with fake pumpkins, I wanted a Fall look that was a little different from the norm. I decided to add some green in there with the Moss vase filler and Moss ball vase filler, and then have great pops of reds, yellows, and browns from the Mexican Pumpkin Potpurri. I loved the look of just that initially, but then realized I needed more height to it, so I grabbed some Raffia {do you remember raffia from every gift or raffle prize ever wrapped in the 90’s?! Ya, that raffia!} Raffia is a great base filler because it is cheap and super neutral, so goes with anything, including stuff thats good looking in 2014, not just the 90’s;)

It was too easy to create this look, guys! All you do is start by filling the lamp with what you want on top, followed by your desired bottom…and thats it! I put my lamp on top of some vintage books to give the base a little bit more ‘weight’, but that wasn’t necessary at all.

Once everything was in the lamp, I shifted it around a bit to get it exactly how I wanted it, but really it was just easy!

I love that I will be able to take out this look and fill it with Christmas items once Thanksgiving is over! And then Valentines day, and so on and so forth!!
