WHAT’S DOING VOL. 7

Thanks to the marvels of the random number generator, we have a winner for the 1940′s pattern giveaway! Congrats to Fooniks. Please get at me with your address and I will send those babies your way.

ADMIRE

This bra set by Carolyn made me want to drop everything and pull out my lingerie supplies.

Nikki at Beaute J’Adore has been killing the maternity makes. I would wear this maxi dress baby or no baby.

I loved the new Colette Myrtle dress – so simple and pretty. Gillian from Crafting a Rainbow looks lovely in hers.

Morgan aka Crab & Bee made a pretty magical top out of scraps.

Really digging Laney’s metallic full ruffle Alder.

Adored this embroidered linen skirt by my dearest Sallie Oh.

Sophie can’t really walk in this make but sometimes things are so beautiful walking is secondary.

EXTRA EXTRA

Kristiann from Victory Patterns is releasing a book next year! I’m so excited for her, and us. She has impeccable taste and I will bet my bottom dollar it’s gonna be fabulous.

READ

Dixie DIY did a great interview with Andrea Schewe this week; she designs all of Simplicity’s costume patterns. Totally fascinating!

NURTURE

I’ve had terrible skin as long as I can remember. Typical soul killing acne in high school, some passable years in my twenties, followed by a brutal outbreak a few years ago that lasted forever and left major scars. I tried everything. Drugstore, department store, all natural. I tried the oil cleansing method (made it even worse and took months to clear), apple cider vinegar, 3 step Clinique, that one they advertise on TV with the celebrities: zit city. And then last year I started using two products that totally changed my skin. I more or less have no pimples anymore except for a few blackheads around my ragey moon time. My scars are even starting to fade. It’s crazy how much the way your skin looks affects your self esteem, right? I’ve recommended these products to a few friends and they’ve had similar results, so I thought I’d pass it on. You ready?

Oil of Olay. I KNOW! They have a SPF 15 daily moisturizer that is super gentle and doesn’t have any chemical sunscreen in it. You have to look for “Original Gentle Formula” or check the ingredients list to make sure it has zinc, since they changed the recipe a few years back. Most acne prone women have oily skin and many avoid moisturizer but your skin needs it; this stuff doesn’t make you greasy at all. I buy this one

on Amazon in bulk. The second thing is also Oil of Olay. I’m not sure if this is okay for people with super sensitive skin since it has glycolic acid in it, but the Night Resurfacing Elixir
saved my life. It’s a moisturizing serum you put on before bed that gently exfoliates without drying out your skin (make sure you wash it off and wear sunscreen in the AM). It cleared me up in a few months and my skin is softer than it’s ever been. Anyway, two really inexpensive things that have worked for me in case anyone wants to try something new. Let me know if it works for you!
