What’s in season in August?

August is a bountiful month for fresh fruit and veg on this fair isle of ours and eating seasonally and locally is not only beneficial for the planet (cutting carbon emissions) but also much better for our health and pocket.

What’s in season in August?

Nectarines
Courgettes
Tomatoes
Peaches
Loganberries
Raspberries
Apricots
Swiss chard
Blackberries
Potatoes
Runner beans
Watercress
Rocket
Garlic
Radishes
Peppers
Mangetout
Broad beans
Peas
Onions
Cucumber
French beans
Beetroot
Carrots
Aubergine
Fennel
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots

And my favourites for this month are drum roll please…..blueberries. My lovely in laws brought some dainty little blue jewels from their garden and we’ve been feasting on these tiny dark berries for days. If you’re into making green juices you can’t go far wrong in adding a handful of these bad boy to sweeten and flavour your juice.

Happy August, which are your favourites for this month?
