The House Gardener by Isabelle Palmer

Hello Lovelies! I hope you all had a nice weekend.

I am delighted to be part of the "House Gardener" blog tour today, so without much further ado...

The House Gardener, Ideas and Inspiration for Indoor gardens, is a book where small-space gardening expert Isabelle Palmer, presents over 60 innovative and uber stylish ideas for creating indoor gardens. She also shows you how to choose, grow & decorate with house plants, as well as a fab guide to show you the different techniques needed to care for your new "green guests".

The book is split into five main chapters, starting with "Enclosed in Glass". In this chapter Isabelle shows you the many joys of growing houseplants by creating your own living landscape or miniature garden. She uses various glass objects to encase and host an array of wonderful houseplants, so showing off their full glory. From full-scale terrariums and large glass vases to glass bottles and small wine glasses.

The second chapter "Old Ends" is about using unexpected objects as containers, as well as recycling old ones. From old pots to milk jugs and pitchers, Isabelle shows us "there is always a way to update and recycle unwanted objects". We learn about Ferns and succulents and how to create a Tropical sanctuary in the bathroom, a pretty pastel country garden in the dining room and a French herb garden for the Kitchen using old wine crates.

In chapter three "Hanging Gardens", Isabelle shows us how to create living works of art, from macramé pot-holders to metal hanging baskets to picture frames that house a selection of mosses and succulents. Here we also learn about air plants and caring for succulents.

The fourth chapter "Just Outside" is about turning your garden into an outdoor room. So, in this chapter, Isabelle looks at decorating and adorning those little areas just outside a house or apartment, from windowsills to front doors, balconies to walled gardens. With dreamy arrangements of wistful wildflowers in carefully selected vintage bottles and old wooden milk crates.

The last chapter "Tools, Materials and Techniques" is a brilliant guide to the basics of growing houseplants from start to finish, for both the beginner and the experienced gardener. With Top Tips, choosing and positioning containers, basic techniques from how to select healthy plants, to planting and training plants to cutting fresh flowers for display. There's even a lovely section on pressing flowers...

The House Gardener by Isabelle Palmer is a great hardback book full of great tips, ideas and inspiration to get you gardening inside and "just out". At a recommended price of £25.00. I think this hardback book is a good buy as it is has so many great tips for the first-time gardener and lots of inspiration for those who already have green fingers. I can't wait to start decorating with house plants, especially succulents!
